Well, he's younger, and is coming off an ELC so he has more cost-control. Has put up some promising numbers in his first three seasons. I would do it for those reasons alone, but I dont know why Winnipeg wouldn't just re-sign him. I haven't seen anywhere that he's available.I have little interest in replacing Strome with another center who doesn't kill penalties.
Has there been anything about Wennberg as a buyout candidate? If Wennberg is bought out, I would definitely look into him. I would still look for a 2C, but Wennberg could be that 3C for us. He's more of a natural C than Chytil is.

Sam Bennett for Buchnevich have any truth or rumor behind it? Rangers need to be harder to play against and Bennett is underrated and still only 24 but makes $2,550,000 and RFA after next season 20-21 season.
maybe Sam Bennett and Elias Lindholm to NYR for DeAngelo and Buchnevich, then sell high on Strome???
Strome, Chytil, Andersson and 22ed to Red Wings for Larkin and Cholowski (Larkin has chemistry with Kreider, not sure if that is enough) huge fan of Larkin
Panarin Zibanjad Kakko
Kreider Larkin Kravtsov
Lafreniere Lindholm Bennett
Lemiuex Howden Gauthier
Cholowski Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Staal Lundkvist
Maybe Gorton's plan is to get Strome on one year then next season Chytil takes 2C and Henriksson comes over for 3C. They seem to really like Henriksson.

This is also my biggest issue with Strome. Sure he had chemistry with Panarin and credit to him for being good in the offensive zone with him but his defensive play is so putrid that it overshadows his offense for me.I honestly want nothing to do with Strome. If we could get a 2nd rounder I’d be thrilled.
he’s as much a problem with our lack of defense as anyone. He is consistently destroyed nightly in every advanced stat by every line he matches up wirh. He’s awful defensively the worst offender of offensive zone penalties in the league.
and a complete non factor when Panarin isn’t carrying him.
I don’t want him on any line I’ll gladly give up some of those points he put up.
Raslovic is a C
Raslovic is a C
he’s listed as a wing and has played wing and only has moved to center when needed in which he can’t defend so they put him back to wing. He’s no center
If he were available, and if the cost wasn't prohibitive, why not play Chytil at 2C and Roslovic at 3C?Has he put up promising numbers though? I don't think so, aside from a 30 game stretch when he first came up. For comparison, Chytil's numbers the last two years are about the same, but Chytil is two years younger.
I think Roslovic is capable of playing the 3C slot, but it doesn't solve any of our problems. He's certainly not a likely Strome replacement.
He can take shifts at C but has mostly been used as a wing. Depends on how Gorton/JD see him.Raslovic is a C

The amount of times he would noticeably dog it and it lead directly to a A+ chance or a goal against is mind boggling. He backchecks like he doesn't care, constantly lackadaisical in the defensive zone and he takes tons of lazy penalties. The eye test shows this and the stats back it up. His lazy and disinterested backchecking and defensive zone play was probably the most infuriating thing about last season. You have Panarin, a Hart candidate player who busts his ass all game in all 3 zones and then Strome is the less talented and less successful player and he's the lazy one? Ridiculous. You'd think watching Panarin bust his ass every night all over the ice would make Strome do the same.
I think he's a fine 3C who can play sheltered minutes and put up some PP points. But the idea that he's going to be a 2C on a championship team just isn't realistic with his all around game being considered. It's like Quinn thinks he's a Derek Stepan type of player. Truth is though, even if he produces like Derek Stepan, he's not a Derek Stepan type of all around, all situation player.
I have to imagine smith is tradeable. Even if we eat half his salary. He was pretty solid down the stretch teams always desperate for Dmen. I mean nick Holden keeps getting contracts. Smith has to be a tradeable asset
