Honestly the last 24 hours make me think Minny might actually be interested in Strome.
Strome for 9, done

Because his value is likely never to be higher (potential starter with RFA years remaining, not gonna get a whole lot of PT next year with Shesterkin in net), he doesn't have a long term future here with Shesty as the clear #1, and because there will be a ton of decent quality veteran goaltenders available to sign as the backup for relatively cheap as UFAs.Why are we all so gung ho about trading Georgiev this offseason? I feel like you have to have a decent backup albeit I know Shesty is the real deal.
He used to be a client. Filthy rich ($4 Billion range) Yes, he has taken a hit but he is also using situation to pick up more real estate. Shrewd businessman and a really nice guy (if you aren't negotiating with him)
right off the bat i would say no BUT those buffalo picks are very high second rounders. I would love to grab a top second round pick somehow in this draft. Not sure if Buffalo would do it tho. They probably like the possible stability and veteran presence Staal could bring.Maybe a silly question but would anyone take Eric Staal back as a piece if Buffalo wanted Strome? Say Staal + BUF 2nd ‘20 + BUF 2nd ‘21 for Strome
1 year stop gap at a reasonable salary. Could be 3C or 2C as needed
He threatened to go ape when it wasn’t funky monkey Friday. Very serious offense.Wait what?
Houston Oilers? Yuck, that would never work.Good to hear. I think Houston would be a good NHL market. The Edmonton Oilers almost moved there in the mid-late 1990s (was within hours of happening until the local group came in and bought the team from Peter Pocklington). I don't know if they've ever played hockey in the place the NBA Rockets play (forgot the name of it; maybe the Toyota Center?), but they can put an ice making machine in and tweak the seats to push them back for hockey.

But if Hank is gone and Georgie is traded (which I'm sure is not gonna return what many Ranger fans think he will return) who is our backup for next year? What if Shesty goes down for 2-3 weeks? kiss the season goodbye?Because his value is likely never to be higher (potential starter with RFA years remaining, not gonna get a whole lot of PT next year with Shesterkin in net), he doesn't have a long term future here with Shesty as the clear #1, and because there will be a ton of decent quality veteran goaltenders available to sign as the backup for relatively cheap as UFAs.
If Hank is gone that would make sense. I am not trading Georgiev for a 2nd rounder in 2021.we?
a select few maybe
but I fully expect a Shesterkin/Georgiev tandem as do most of us id think

See the final point in my original response re: who will be the backup. And if the team can't survive a 2-3 week stretch with a guy like Talbot (to pick a name) in net, then they're not going anywhere anyway. But if Hank is gone and Georgie is traded (which I'm sure is not gonna return what many Ranger fans think he will return) who is our backup for next year? The arena was built to accommodate hockey. There's already an ice plant in place. They have had a number of pre season and minor league games there.Good to hear. He isn't even going to get $2m.Trading Georgiev is less about getting a big return and more about the fact that we won't have to pay him. Most teams don't want to pay 3-4 million dollars for a backup, and if NYR end up keeping ADA and Strome he's gonna need to go to fit under the cap.

Seems like an open secret at this point
If Staal really made that threat, I’m not sure I’d want him around either.
Who are the UFA goalie vets you would sign? Keeping in mind salary. Like under 1-5-2 million.See the final point in my original response re: who will be the backup. Is the NHL's arbitrator his brother or something?Trading Georgiev is less about getting a big return and more about the fact that we won't have to pay him.
