I think this is what it will be with the exception of Fast. I believe him leaving is a foregone conclusion. Howden, Barron, Gauthier, DiG, Gettinger and whatever cheap FA 4th liner compete for Spots 11-13.

I'd be very cautious and careful about PDG. 4 points in 20 Games for someone on the third line is not good. I get why he was in the lineup this past season but if you're relying on him to be a strong veteran presence then it's one step closer to another lottery pick. He's a AAAA player and we saw he was invisible in the Carolina series.

Gettinger is about one season removed from the Ryan Graves or Boo Nieves category. What more exactly does he have to do to get a shot? He may not be sexy but he's competent and looked fine in his limited NHL action. He's 4.5 years younger than PDG so there is room for development. Let him grow.

Yeah, if Tampa wanted Tony they could figure out a way to make it work

They dumped him for a 2nd round pick two years after he was drafted, they def wouldn’t want him back lol

TDA had the reputation as a troublemaker and a hot head. One reason he was moved. He's a more talented player than Shattenkirk but that reputation is going to follow him around into his UFA years and there's a good chance he doesn't get paid his full value.

We've all seen his growth as a teammate but anytime he chirps at a ref or starts a scrum after the whistle, it's magnified x 10 with him. The only way he ever fully overcomes this is if he puts up like 4 50+ point seasons in a row and has a great long playoff run or two and for his own sake, stays off social media.

Lafreniere - Zibanejad - Buchnevich
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Kreider - Chytil - Kravtsov
Lemieux - Barron - Fast
Howden - Gauthier

I think Fast is gone and it's going to have a negative impact on the team. I think Lafreniere will begin on the 3rd line and Barron won't make the team. Kravstov isn't a 4th liner, so I'm not sure where he fits into this. Maybe McKegg back? DiGiuseppe at this point can move on.

Serious question: what system do we play right now? I can't see one at all (which is the biggest problem with this coach--besides his man-love for Howden)...how would we evolve something that does not exist?
Well, I was referring to a post that concerned that Quinn plays a "passive, conservative, scared-kitten system."

Yeah, I thought of that, but Lemieux's impact as a 4th liner... Don't love it. Not sure Kravstov is ready for the jump.

I'd *prefer* the above, but I'm not sure it'll be the reality.

And? Is this more true for Quinn than for other coaches? Who cares? It's not like someone worthy was being bumped while Howden was taking their spot on an NHL roster. He'll improve, as will the Rangers.
And we have a player in the lineup every night three standard deviations below replacement level, that what and.

What is Lemieux’s impact that justifies anything but a spot on the 4th line?

I’m closer to this view too. 4th line is where you stick your role players. I don’t think you need a 4th line but I think it’s worse to try and force one together. That never really works. I don't even have a problem with 11F 7D, or using a utility guy like Smith. Find guys that contribute on special teams/faceoffs that aren’t going to kill you and keep them there. Martin is a terrible idea. Taking players like that from rival teams that have already used up their best mileage very seldom works.
Take this for what It’s worth, when AV was still coaching Vancouver he claimed that the reason the Canucks lost to Boston in the finals was that he was unable to roll a 4th line and Boston was.

With the likely shortened offseason I doubt they wait that long if there is a 2nd buyout window. If Lundqvist is looking to retire I would think it would happen before or during the buyout window.

And what year ago was that?

Man, the Kravtsov saga is a roller coaster. Started the season as one of the top prospects in the the world, finished it with a lot of people thinking he was a flop and overrated. Two months later people are penciling him into the top-9 again.
You're never as good as you look are when you're going well and you're never as bad as you look when you're struggling.

As opposed to the guy that doesn't have an NHL resume at all? Like I said, I hope that Kravstov ends up being a 3rd line guy next year to start the season. Works for me. He's shown nothing at an NHL, or AHL, level to slot him ahead of Lemieux if you're basing it on realism instead of hope. Our forward roster is pretty thin after the top 6.
