It gets said every time but it has to be said every time that Brooks is just doing it for the clicks. I doubt management will consider Martin given their cap situation. Clicks from Islanders fans and Rangers fans.

I like the strategy (make the fourth line tougher to play against) but not enamored of the tactic. There are better, cheaper options to accomplish same.

Where?
When's the last time this team even had a competent 4th line center?
Boyle?

Go get Casey Czikas... he should be available at the deadline or wait and continue working with Howden ...we have a year or a few more months before deadline nears to see how things are shaking out in our organization.

DeAngelo is an elite offensive right shot 24 year old former first round pick Dman

he’s on his 3rd team and for some reason that team is shopping him around. Add in He has a very public And polarizing reputation that proceeds him

and we’re wondering why he may not be attractive to other teams? This worries me. This is why I was complaining about the podcast. I don’t think any of this stuff is attractive to anyone in a very conservative league that hates big personalities

I'm just not seeing it with Howden.
Hate to say it but he's just got no business in this line up right now IMO

Yeah, but it's a lot harder that way. And making that type a priority in the draft doesn't seem to pay off at a high rate.

Nobody said pimping is easy! ...but seriously, they have chosen a couple of guys with those elements so we'll see. If they have to go via the FA route then I still think we are a couple years away before doing so to augment our core, kinda like Tampa did.

I can't say I would be surprised if the major interest on Tony isn't there right now. He's got a lot of factors that come together and his value is tough to pinpoint because of it.

We may not like it but I'm sure there are GMs who think he's a PP specialist and not much else. I think that's an oversimplification of his skills but that's just how these teams are.

The Gostisbehere comparison is an interesting one. What was that guy worth the season after he scored 65?

In the grown up hockey world.. Nobody gives a f***ing shit about his podcast or political views.
It's his work on the defensive side of the puck that brings up red flags..

Martin is not a center

I know that.. I'm not promoting Martin.
Just trying to make a point.

One that can be responsible on the defensive side of the puck as well as chip in a few points?

I haven't looked at advanced stats which I believe has been mentioned Tony is better but they're similar-ish players

Same height, same weight, offensive defenseman who don't defend so hot. If you're adjusting for a full season's pace, both will have scored 60+ points at 24.

I don't remember what Ghost's value was coming off that season

So if ADA stays, Strome and/or Buch should go. I’m good signing ADA long term if he’ll take a decent contract.

I would sign ADA to a 1 or 2 year deal if we're able to. I think Lundkvist is potentially more well rounded. And thus a bit more useful in game situations.

But I wouldn't sign ADA long term right now. Given Lundkvist's potential arrival and Trouba and Fox it doesnt make sense to commit over 4m to what is likely our 3rd pair RD. If we hadn't signed Trouba to an indefinite deal 1 or 2 years is the most they can commit right now. That just may not be what ADA wants. And that may force the Rangers hand if he goes to arb and gets awarded bigger money.
