I almost want this to happen just because Flames fans laughed at me when I offered DeAngelo for him.

Flames fans are insanely attached to Lindholm and the "DeAngelo is just Gostisbehere part II" narrative has taken hold pretty strongly around the board in general. DeAngelo has his warts but the public opinion of him is just laughable at this point.

on eichel...

the scenario were he might make sense though is if you are afraid to give a huge 7-8 year extension to 29 year old zibanejad...you could then trade mika and keep eichel who would be like 26 as the #1 center..

This is my motivation. Especially if Buffalo were to retain a little on Eichel’s contract.

Of the recent suggestions I’ve read I liked less “invasive” ones:

1.Virtanen for Andersson with a small add (mid round pick?). Makes the Rangers deeper in bottom-6 without giving up someone penciled in on 2020-21 roster.

2. Dunn is another intriguing piece though I think Dunn for Carolina’s first PLUS Hajek is a an overpayment. Remember how the Rangers got this pick in the first place? While we grew tired of Skjei to become what was expected of him, around the league he likely was viewed as a young guy (signed on a long term and a pretty decent contract) that just needed a change of scenery and a more mature roster around him. IMHO Carolina’s pick should be enough. If Hajek is to be moved - it could be in a different deal.

Everything else could wait and see how things break out at least toward the next TDL.

What this team needs moving forward is more cost controlled middle 6 players, not more superstars like Eichel.

Get Eichel and keep Zib and the team ends up so top-heavy that you end up with guys like McKegg on the third line. No bueno.

Zibanejad, Panarin, Kakko, Lafreiniere, Fox, Shesterkin- these guys are gonna be our stars. And they'll need to eventually be paid as such.

Main boards in a nutshell:

1) Trade offer favors OP's team - "ROFLMAO! Worst trade ever!"

2) Trade offer is even - "ROFLMAO! Worst trade ever!"

3) Trade offer favors other team - "Start with that and keep adding."

4) Trade offer greatly favors other team - "We grudgingly accept."

I may be in the minority but if Eichel were available for a fair price I add him and figure it out later. That may include trading Zibanejad prior to his next contract which may seem like blasphemy now until you start looking at him like he was a pure UFA with the head injuries and age at time if UFA

the issue is ‘a fair price’. My guess is that what buffalo considers a fair price is insanely high from our standpoint
