Can't see Vegas trading either Glass or Krebs. They'll need them down the road and for cap purposes as well. Slim chance of Krebs but doubtful for DeAngelo. Folks need to keep in mind that the team taking on DeAngelo needs to be able to afford him.

They're a win now team and they can send some salary back.

Not everyone is building towards tomorrow.

Reeves is a worthless scrub and he proved that vs. Dallas. Total waste of money who ruins your 4th line. DeAngelo for Krebs and a 2nd. Count me in. Vegas is a win team now and their current team and farm has absolutely NOTHING on the right side to move the puck and they need a true PP QB. Montefluke is not it. It makes a ton of sense for them. Problem is Lundkvist didn't come over. I hope he has some kind of out after a few months.

Lundkvist would be the problem if a trade like that were to happen?

Theodore is a LD.

Their RD suck.

Theodore plays RD and says he likes it there so I doubt they’ll shift him to the left. Theodore can be top pair RD, DeAngelo 2nd pair. They have Schmidt, Whitecloud and McNabb on the left to pair with them, any of whom is a good partner for DeAngelo. He would certainly improve their overall D and give them another PP option. For a team that could barely score against Dallas, that’s gotta have some value.

1. Fair question, but the simple answer is, I just think that he would be. He is behind Hedman and McDonagh in Tampa but I just see someone who now is ready to step up and play on a first pair. Log a lot of minutes if needed.

2. The biggest advantage with him is that we are not going to commit to any NTC/NMC (they are not allowed during his RFA years) for his next FOUR seasons. We need a top LD now. Will we want to pay for someone (that we select today) in 2/4/6 years? I am far from convinced of it. My biggest concern is getting locked up with NMCs/NTCs huge parts of the 2020s that we regret, not making marginally bad moves.

3. I am of the stance that dealing a 1st round pick with any thing more than a couple of months left of a season is really really risky, no matter if it’s unprotected or not (if you end up sucking the first year, what is there to say that you won’t suck the second?). So I of course think your point there is really strong. I’ve thought of it and my best reply would be to quote Slats about the mice/lions thing. ;)

Yea but what we do not need is an expensive LD who provides offense. We have plenty of that from out right side on D. Offense costs more than defense. We would be better off with someone cheaper who can play in top four role without the offense as it will keep the cost of the deal down. We don't need someone who can play on a PP.

Theodore is a LD.

Their RD suck.

He plays both sides and there were articles during the year on how he prefers it on the right.

They have the 25th ranked power play in the NHL, one right hand shot on defense and just lost a playoff where they scored 8 goals in 5 games.

And? Dallas allowed the second fewest goals of any team this year. Teams not scoring against them is a common occurrence. Why would you make any changes based on that?

I agree with this. Not saying they’re available but guys like Ekholm and Lindell are good examples (or a LH version of Pesce). They get good value contracts because they don’t get paid for the offensive side as much. They still provide some, but they’re on manageable contracts and are great partners for guys like Trouba/Fox/ADA/Lundkvist

We need someone like a Hjalmarsson, Brodin, Dillon type of player to pair with Trouba/Fox/DeAngelo. They really don't need to provide any offense and I'd rather they don't so they are cheaper. Paying huge money for Sergachev, more than any of the RFA last year, and giving up at least a 1,2,3 (more if the deal is 6 or 7 years) doesn't make sense. He's strong offensively which we don't need. He plays on the PP which we don't need. And he has always played in a very sheltered role in TB (and done very well in it but do you want to pay 7.5M+ for a bunch of years to see if he can put up similar numbers in a more difficult role?)

Forget about Vegas. There is no way that Gorton deals DeAngelo for Krebs. Not happening. And not even sure about Glass. The injuries are there and ugly.

Been posting about this possibility since the overvalued Keller pitch, but Pierre McGuire is reporting that teams are going to be sold.

Hammer and Dillon are good 4-6 options. Brodin is a solid complimentary guy on the top pair or a nice #3, I agree. I only mentioned guys a little higher end in Ekholm and Lindell because they’re examples of really top notch defense first guys who are in manageable contracts instead of big paydays. I’d take a guy like Hjalmarsson in a deal with AZ as a vet, but even if our prospects pan out I think we need one 25+ legitimate LHD who can play 20+ minutes.

Remember; Vegas is still going to be a win now team next year. And the year after that

heck of a reality check for them. They get outmuscled by Dallas, Avs will only get better and Edmonton possibly gets their act together.

Out of all the names mentioned recently among D, Brodin is the one I like the most. Dunn is okay yet again the Rangers would be taking a player who never played in a major role before and trying to put him there.

However if I were the Rangers I am not moving a ton of assets to fix the LD which has a decent chance at fixing itself within a year or two. Within that same year or two time frame is how long I expect it is going to take for Lafreniere and probably Kakko as well to even begin their NHL primes.

I feel as if they do anything setting themselves up for future top line center(s) is probably the most important thing. Whether that means they trade for a young already drafted version, or they figure out how to draft some possible future ones, I see that as the weakest area within the whole organization. That said no way Krebs alone is worth ADA, adding Reeves I think makes the deal worse.

All the Rangers players expecting some enforcer to take care of the whole team physically is the last thing they need, they need to figure out how to become a tougher team organically, they've tried importing mentors before to toughen up the others by setting an example with zero success.

If Vegas is sending a pick, how about a 2022 first? I'd gamble on them potentially missing the playoffs in 2 years in order to get a ticket to the Shane Wright lottery.
