I view him as a hero for carrying a substantially limited player at 5v5, but I also realize he was protected in the matchups.

Yes kinda.. and while I don't think Staal is nearly as bad as he's made out to be but again, while Fox is not a known quantity.
Why wasn't ADA put on the 2nd pairing?
Not pushing this question on you but it's just one of the many questions I cringe at when it comes to DQ

He played like a minute and a half on the PK this season. Think any potential acquisition on D will need to be a regular penalty killer. And I think Boston's last offer was 6.5 x 6.

For those reasons, I'm out.

Just thought he could be animal with a player like a Fox. And he is such a good skater that i could imagine he can be effective even late to that contract. But yeah he already has miles on him, and maybe he would want too much money.

Has it been reported how long the cap will stay flat for? How would we be able to afford Mika's next contract if we trade for Eichel and still have to pay Fox Kakko Igor and eventually Laff? I would love to have Eichel if it didn't cost a ton to get him but it doesnt seem realistic right?

Three years. If there isn't a vaccine, and one that is widely available to all of the public, the cap space after is going to be something the owners and players really debate about.

well fox wasn't given that at first, the team was playing with pairings and matchups for most of the first quarter of the season and settled into what became, so it's not like the pigeon holed those pairings and matchups at the start of the year. Hell, trouba started on the pp1 and paired with Brady, I think staal and ada were paired together as the 2nd pair and then fox and hajek were the 3rd pair rookies. Fox just played his way into more responsibility and also really stabilized w lindgren so I Don't really think it's a situation where Quinn went into the season and saying ADA was going to have limited 5v5 matchups. I think it's just the way it ended up playing out based on performance. Ada killed it on the power play, but 5V5 was a little bit more protected because of some of the limitations on his game. I just don't think it's so simple as saying Quinn held him back.

I would have to imagine if there's some sort of massive financial shortcomings for the league after the already plan three year period then the league and the players are going to have to seriously talk about some level of rollback if contracts again and resetting the capital lower number. I often side with the players on their refusal for contract rollbacks and wanting to limit escrow, but given what's going on with the economy in the state of everything with the league you'd be fairly short sighted to expect owners in the league to take on massive losses while players maintain their salaries that were negotiated and are totally different circumstances. And if the players dug in on that I'm sure that that would blow up any discussions of capping escrow in the future since the owners would be taking it on the chin during those years.

Krebs injured his achillies training off ice.
He bounced back fine.
I know he bounced back fine, I thought it was a skate cut though?either way that's a tough injury and I'm glad that he was able to come back. He's still an excellent prospect

Putting Jake Virtanen before Henrik Lundqvist in that tweet bugs me out, not gonna lie.

Updates on the market for Jimmy Vesey. Dale Wiese in play? And, NYR and decorated goalie, Henrik Lundqvist are about to part ways.
He’s a Canadian broadcaster. He’s always going to put the NYR item that 99% of the people he’s broadcasting to don’t care about last. It’s not a sleight.

"Dreger said “unfortunately for Henrik Lundqvist there will be a separation from the New York Rangers by form of that buyout. It’s an easy story to follow. The Rangers made it clear they weren’t going with a three goalie system and Henrik Lundqvist at 38-years of age and as decorated of a goaltender as he is with the New York Rangers organization, the time has come for the two sides to separate and I believe that the Rangers, perhaps as early as Wednesday, will announce that they have moved forward with the buyout of the final-year of the contract of Henrik Lundqvist. This will now come easy to the Rangers given eveyrthing that Lundqvist has provided to the organization. This was a tough decision but a decision that has to be made moving forward."

Sorry, ADA doesn't have more value than Shea Theodore at this point. If he did, the Rangers would be working out a long term contract with him.

I like both players, but one is a legit 1st pair d man & the other is a 4-5 who makes his living on the PP.
We dont know that the Rangers aren't working out a long term contract with ADA, but one reason they might not is that they committed 8 million annually to Trouba for the next six seasons. Another possible reason is named Adam Fox.

But I agree, Theodore is maybe worth more today than ADA, especially since he's locked down at ~5 million for the next five seasons.

That begs another good question- who would people rather have: Theodore for five seasons at 5 million per, or Trouba for six seasons at 8 million per? Is the value difference between Theodore and Trouba ~3 million annually?

Well the owners are taking it on the chin now. It's really a question of the wealthy deciding that owning a sports team isn't going to be a profitable or as profitable of a venture. Even though this is the form of live content that can drive subscriptions. Like True Subs, not how sports leagues have attempted to do it in the past. We are talking transformational efforts here.

Without getting into non-hockey topics, I believe the league and sports in general needs to find new monetization strategies. In some ways, or I should say if you catering the sport to digital media consumers (the NHL is weaksauce at this), then you have more ways to monetize globally. I'll stop here, but needless to say further advancement is needed.

I think it's been established that Trouba's contract looks bad when you compare it to the best contracts in the league--contracts signed by teams with leverage over players we never had with Trouba.

I believe we are now at the point where we are gonna see ads on jerseys. Sad times. I’ll never buy a jersey with an ad on it but I can see why they would do it now to recoup costs.
