He was better than Hague as a rookie, but the Hague-Whitecloud pair absolutely dominated AHL competition. Think they are trying to get Hague to learn how to defend the rush and arials a little better. Once he does, you have another monster on the backend. He's got a reach that covers a lot of ground, but if he gets turned, or if faster forwards play a two man game with him, he's a little vulnerable. Would love to add Hague, but I am not sure if they move him.

I really liked Hague's compete level when he was on the Knights during the first half, but the biggest issue he has is his skating. He's wasn't an NHL level skater last year. If that improves, I think he's got the ability & the size to become a fixture in the Vegas lineup.

What do people think about Krug? I know he is 29 already, but man can move the puck and play bigger than his size.

Either way I'd make that above-referenced Eichel deal today and then deal with the fallout later. Maybe in 2 years you can move Kreider and keep Zibanejad, who knows what will happen?

Kreider has a NMC for 4 years if I'm not mistaken.

They said the same thing about Oleksiak, and he was on the fringes at one point before turning into Miro Heiskanen's version of Jeff Beukeboom. It's about the system they deploy, and the kid's ability to read what's around him. I think Hague doesn't have the fastest processor, so he has to learn the positional side and be more efficient.

I was saying if the hypothetical Eichel trade happened now, for Chytil - ADA - 22OA - D prospect (Miller?), that's what it signals to Zibanejad. That he's probably not getting Panarin money from us.

I don't think it excludes him taking a decent (though not huge) discount to stay here. But he's not gonna get $10, $11m here.

If he wants to get that more than stay, then that's an outcome I'd live with, and yes, I'd probably try to move him at the end of his final contract year season's trade deadline. And I'm sure you'd get a ridiculous haul of prospects and picks back.

If he wants to stay for a discount, then that happens.

Kreider got his contract before Lafreniere became a reality. When Alexis' payday arrives, I doubt Kreider will be a Ranger. You can't have close to $30M tied to your LW.

You think ADA is worth Theodore AND Glass/Krebs? I think that's a bit unrealistic.

I keep repeating this, but Theodore is not going anywhere. He is Vegas most irreplaceable player & his value is much higher than ADAs.
I don't think Ada gets you both, but I think Ada has more value than either of those pieces individually, and you'd obviously need at least second piece, but Ada +22 doesn't sound like a bad starting point.

One more thing re: Eichel rumor. Any chance that was put out there by the Rangers to make, say, Calgary know they've got other options? Seems unlikely, but it was one option I hadnt really considered before.

Hopefully McDavid says he's miserable losing in the North Pole and demands a trade. Doesn't seem like the type but neither did Nash.. Actually McDavid seems extremely competitive

Choice of Robertson, Jones or Hajek

we close?

I'm very much in the
old school line of thinking when it comes to pairing offense and defense but (and you can look at it both ways, Staal)
don't you think ADA and the team would've benefited more with ADA on the #2 pairing?

If DQ were confident enough to trust Fox on the #2 pairing (next to another rookie) surely he'd trust him on the 3rd next to Staal, no?

I just can't wrap my around what this guy is trying to do.

At the end of the day, was ADA utilized in the right way?

How do you evaluate a player when it comes to trade or sign while he was dumped into the worst possible position to succeed?
I view him as a hero for carrying a substantially limited player at 5v5, but I also realize he was protected in the matchups.

Krebs didn't blow out his achilles. He was cut by a skate and it was partially severed. Erik Karlsson has a similar injury several years ago.
Correct, I remembered it as an achilies injury. I forgot it was due to a slate cut. My understanding is it was a serious injury. Do you recall how bad the cut was? Like when karlsson was cut they put it in a percentage.

Has it been reported how long the cap will stay flat for? How would we be able to afford Mika's next contract if we trade for Eichel and still have to pay Fox Kakko Igor and eventually Laff? I would love to have Eichel if it didn't cost a ton to get him but it doesnt seem realistic right?

Sorry, ADA doesn't have more value than Shea Theodore at this point. If he did, the Rangers would be working out a long term contract with him.

I like both players, but one is a legit 1st pair d man & the other is a 4-5 who makes his living on the PP.
