If they do move DeAngelo for a Center, then I would like them to look at Shattenkirk on short term deal to replace him on the right side. Del Zotto would be one of the last options to look at. But in the right mold of a short term stopgap RD while we wait out Lundkvist.

But you are only moving Tony if you are getting a legitimate center in return.

Maybe he's referring to that leagues top players? Lol
Idk but be that as it may..
There's one common theme that has me wondering, and LB touched on it but after the LA and Kravstov situation, Nils didn't want to sign?
Covid is world wide last I checked, no?
Is there more to the equation?

Actually, he wanted to sign but when COVID hit, he decided to stay in Sweden. The situation last season in the AHL has nothing to do with it. Lundkvist expected to play in the AHL, and he was ready to move. His family expected him to leave this summer.

Yeah I'm not liking the sounds of this.

Has the smell of something dumb coming like DeAngelo for RNH.

Edit: Apparently I can't read as it was mentioned that they'd be looking for someone on an ELC or 2nd contract.

So not RNH dumb. Krebs+Hauge+1st if the Knights get knocked out again.

Can you imagine the young players the knights would have traded In the last few years if that happens? Suzuki, Brannstrom, Krebs, Hague

Wild aren’t bringing Mikko Koivu back. Could do a lot worse that giving him a one year deal if he’s open to it.

people here keep saying ada can move to the left but not sure the rangers have shown an interest in doing that on a regular basis especially with the ld prospects on the way

Keller is a lw. We don’t need another big $$ lw

Tony has a hard enough time defensively on the right side, he isn't an option for the left.

Koivu and Thornton are my stopgap veteran suggestions for 3C. And with being able to get Lindholm here. Don’t know who they have to move to get Elias.

Strome for Draft picks / prospects

Buch + for Lindholm

Lafreniere-Zib-Kreider
Panarin-Lindholm-Kakko
Chytil-Koivu/Thornton-Gauthier
Lemmy-Howden-Boyle

Would prefer to move on from Howden and have Boyle be the center there. Sign Clifford for the RW spot.

Koivu is either Minnesota or retirement.

I'd think the same is true with Thornton and SJ.
I dont know GAS, I think Thornton would be open to moving on. Marleau has done it before. Maybe not with us but somewhere.

Koivu I can see that being true. But wouldn’t be awful to try and bring in the big vet Finnish center who had quite the career with 19 year old Kakko here.

If we move DeAngelo, what will it take to get Lundkvist over NOW?

That's impossible. He is under contract. There's no way out from under that contract. And the transfer agreement doesn't apply here since the season already started

You want to pay Shattenkirk to not play for us, as the same time as we pay him to play for us?

HELL NO

If NYR are looking for a stopgap for ADA next year it should be a balanced or stay-at-home guy, not an aging offensive defenseman. MDZ is a bad choice too.

Maybe Trevor Van Reimsdyk or Demelo/Michael Stone. Something obviously cheap and temporary.

Nothing available like the occasional out clauses the KHL grants?

So, just because we don’t want to pay Shatty twice, we will settle for players that will offer less than he can. Yeah I am going to disagree heavily here.

The only thing Thornton has left to do is win a cup. If he does want to move on (we know he still wants to play) I'd think it'd be on a cheap 1 year deal with a contender. Still think it would make more sense for him to sign in SJ and then evaluate his options at the TDL.

I think @Mac n Gs posted an article that said that Koivu is either Minnesota or done in the NHL. I don't see him being of much interest to the Rangers anyway, he doesn't move well at all anymore.

Look even if we drop the unfortunate history from the conversation...

Fox and Trouba provide plenty of offensive kick from the right side already. We need a guy who is a penalty killer more than another PP guy. It's already going to be tough to find enough PP time for all our skilled forwards as it is.

I don't think anyone would need to worry about losing Nils' rights. He would have likely signed this summer had COVID not happened.

I guess they could have signed him and loaned him, but I don't know if that 1st year would slide or not (@Amazing Kreiderman help me out here) so that would kind of be a waste.

Lundkvist's ELC would not be slide eligible as he would sign it in the calendar year of his 20th birthday. ELC can only slide if signed in the year of a player's 18th or 19th birthday.
