Would you bet on that, if you're JG?imo, his value will be higher if Laf is the LW on his line. Betting his stats skyrocket

We heard last summer about all the forwards we have. We still ended up with AHL players taking regular shifts.
I'm not hell bent on Virtanen specifically but this "we're set at forward" mentality is just bizarre to me.
Would you bet on that, if you're JG?
Who's obsessed? It's just a conversation. Would you rather we spoke of the weather?I love when the board becomes obsessed with marginal players. The marginal players on other teams are ALWAYS better than what we already have on our team.
Off season is always entertaining around here.
Yes that’s correctJust looked at the buyout calculator on capfriendly. Am I reading this wrong, or does a buyout of Hank save us only 3 million on his cap hit next season?
Yes that’s correct
which is why it’s next level stupid to buy him out
I understand disagreement on the subject, and 3 million is significant, but it still keeps a 5.5 million cap hit next season and Georgiev is not under contract yet. Not sure why Larry and Rick are treating this as a foregone conclusion.Yes that’s correct

I think the Rangers just enjoy having dead cap on the booksPlus the cap added the following season when we will actually be looking to use some cap.
I see no reason why Kreider can’t move over to the right side. He’s already done it multiple times. He scored a beauty in the very last game flying down the right side. I fully expect him to move there full time.
how good is he at corralling passes on his backhand?
Just manage until the contracts expire and go from there.
And that's The Ranger's Way babyyyWhat will happen I’m sure is we’ll buy Henrik out to keep Georgiev, and then a week later during the draft Gorton will get some offer he thinks is good value for Georgiev and trade him
And then we’ll just be sitting here with no backup, unnecessary dead cap space, and not even a decent farewell for Hank
yes and also after the Seattle draft occursJust manage until the contracts expire and go from there.
Virtanen isn't a good player, I'm not sure why people think he is a better option than we have already.[/QUO
Yea likely a better idea to see what Gauthier, Howden and Lemieux can do . 1 may need to get protected in expansion if they break out
I’d sign Strome And Fast at the right price but expose both
Also, news flash for those who might be confused, this is a *hockey* message board.Nobody is obsessed with Virtanen. We're discussing possible depth players who might still have some untapped potential.
The Rangers current 3RW is Julien Gauthier. I'm as hopeful as anyone that he turns into a good player but he has 17 NHL games and 3 points to his credit. You could move Kreider to the right, sure, but then your 3LW is Brendan Lemieux. Either way, the Rangers end up with a 4th line caliber player on their 3rd line.
"youre obsessed with x" and "you hate x" are go-to attacks used by posters arguing without any substantive leg to stand on. Its basically an admission of their failure, so you should take it as a compliment.Nobody is obsessed with Virtanen. He's got a no move clause, he literately can't be sent to HartfordJust tell Hank if he is coming back we are sending him to Hartford. He will retire then. If not we will save 900k instead of 3 mill on the buyout but we save 5 million on wasted cap space next season.
