A half hour later and the suspense is killing me
It's obvious. We can make any of these fantasy trades...nobody knows if they would actually benefit the team. We can talk about getting rid of the salaries that expire after next season...well they expire after next season. But there is one and only one objective for this offseason. It's the difference between 'what could have been' and what will be a force to be reckoned with.

...in regards to the Jake Allen trade?

All of them.
  • Igor Shesterkin is a top 8 goaltender in the NHL - 75%
  • Adam Fox becomes a 21+ minute per game 1D - 60%
  • One of our LD prospects steps in and plays the season at a competent, second pairing level - 5%
  • Filip Chytil becomes a 45+ point C who penalty kills - 35%
  • Kaapo Kakko has a 55+ point sophomore season - 25%
  • Alexis Lafreniere has a Calder quality rookie season - 75%
You must be pretty low on Kakko

If Kakko plays with Panarin or Zibanejad next year he’ll get close to 50 no doubt

Now whether or not our big brain coach puts him in that position is a different story

I don't think theres any question that he's starting the season on Panarin's opposite wing.

The other 2 top lines are more interesting because I have no idea how they'll shake out.

I don’t expect him to go from below-replacement level to a first-line player in one offseason.

I shot as low as possible last season with Kakko (40 points) and he still massively disappointed me. I’ve learned my lesson there.

23 pts -> 55 pts is a massive jump. Even though I expect to see substantial improvement next season, I don't think 1/4 is overly pessimistic.

I remember everyone pegging him at 60-70 for his rookie season lol, not gonna lie if he gets under 55 in his sophmore year I’ll start thinking he’s a bit of a disapoitment.

If he puts in the work this offseason and gets top 6 minutes, I'd be kind of surprised if he doesn't come within 10 points of the numbers posted by the OP.

I don't think people realize how much hockey he played and how much traveling he did leading into his rookie season. In reality he had a few weeks between the end of prospects camp to flying back to NY before Traverse city to just chill out. There was about a month and a half between the two, and I would bet half (or more) was spent training.

The time off did him well before going to the bubble. I hope he takes his off ice training seriously.

Some of you may know of the health issues I’ve been experiencing, well after 8 months of trying to seek care in Canada to no avail, yesterday I emailed a doctor in NYC who’s world renowned in this field, he replied within a couple hours and I have an appointment with him tomorrow morning. :) God bless NYC & America!

Not saying he won’t get close. I might have given 50 points like 75% for example.

Yep. 55 by second season and I would be ecstatic. Probably more realistic for his third season
I'm more concerned with his actual play than point production, but he was probably the best Rangers forward in the play in round, so that's a good sign to me. And if he gets a spot on the top powerplay unit and even just splits his time in the top 6/bottom 6 at ES I think his point totals will see a decent bump from that

Great to hear man. I have some friends in Winnipeg area and have heard similar stories.
Hope it all works out

Telemedicine or are you flying over?

Yeah...

I just wanted to point out how little rest he got last offseason. It's something that will work greatly to Laf's benefit because he doesn't have to deal with all of the BS leading into the season. He's had loads of time off to rest up, work on specific skills and train his body. He's going to roll into camp at 200+ lbs and faster than ever.

Telemedicine, I’ve sent him my scans and I’m getting a second opinion from him. It’s a rare thing called pulsatile tinnitus (hearing whooshing sound of turbulent blood flow in your head, along with chronic headaches) so many doctors don’t know much about it, but it is often caused by life-threatening vascular conditions in the brain. The doctors here basically told me because I’m young & fit it would be a waste of time to do any scans, I had to be a pain in their butt and repeatedly go to ER whining to finally get them to do anything. They tried saying the scans are fine but I’ve read stories of many people being told this only for this doctor to find the cause. So I’ll have answers of some sort tomorrow, if I require surgery I’ll definitely be making the trip to NYC, hopefully we somehow have normal hockey back by then and I can catch a Rangers game. But anyways I’m so excited and I’m almost in tears!

Good luck, man. I hope everything works out well.

What no one talks about is that he probably would have had 40 points if he was kept on that first power play. I think the power play could be his bread and butter because he has the space to move around and use his body like he did on the bigger ice. I pray to god, Quinn better not go all galaxy brain and play Ryan Strome on the first power play in his spot. He better get that shot now. He’s earned it.
