Apparently now we’re saying “f*** center” and trading for Laine.

So DeAngelo, Buchnevich, Kravtsov, Car 1st for Laine?

Kreider - Zib - Laine
Panarin - Strome - Kakko
Laf - Chytil - Fast
I - Don't - Care

Goooooooo!

Does anyone else see Radko Gudas being a potential target at about 3.5x3or4? I don't care if he's RHD. Nobody pays that guy to touch the puck anyway. If they allow buyouts to get Staal off the roster, I would be in on this guy. He's a POS, but at least he doesn't hurt you if he's with you. We need a dash of sandpaper.

I'm hearing he is all but certain to be a Maple Leaf.

I just think it's going to be very hard to get equal value unless it's in the form of prospects.

We need players that are NHL ready now until our prospects are ready to go.

Either that or it will be for a different position (2C) entirely and his position will be completely abandoned lol

No we really don't need nhl ready players, this team isn't near ready for a cup run, the bad contracts need to expire, Miller, Lafrienierre, Barron,Lindqvist,Kravtsov,Jones, Robertson, Hendrickson need another year or in some cases 2 and then we see what we have and move forward. There is no rush to ice a contender this year, it can't happen because we are too early and we have too much money tied up in buyouts, Lundqvist, Staal and Smith. Patience is key in this build, start the march after next year.

No thanks. I love having a tough policeman on defense - loved McQuaid, for example. But this guy is all over the place. Not in a good way.

I think an underrated element to this offseason is which teams will be hit hardest financially due to revenue decreases.

There could be quite a few players available that you wouldn't expect due to teams needing to get to the cap floor just to survive. Teams like the Panthers, Predators, Devils, Coyotes, Blue Jackets, Jets and Sabres may have to reduce payroll.

Separately there are teams that expected to make deep runs but will come up short. And they may be looking to shake things up or at least get rid of some salary so they can address needs.

Leafs, Blues and depending on this round, possibly the Avs and Lightning.

Then there's Calgary, the s-show that is Calgary. And the Sharks.

Point is, if the Rangers could shed any or all of the big contracts: Staal, Lundqvist and Smith. They could put themselves in a position to catch a few fallen apples. The Pandemic is one of those rare complications that could expose the blind spots of the cap system.

McQuaid did not impress me. I don't feel like he made much of an impact other than getting absolutely smoked by a point shot about 2-3 times a game.

Yup. I miss RB here. I bet there is a ton of info on owners from all over struggling. I've heard about Dallas' owner possibly being short on money.

On the flip side of this, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the Rangers would be the exception to the rule either. While I'm sure the Rangers would breath a sigh of relief if Hank walked away from the final year of his deal, I don't think they're necessarily going to run out and look for places to spend it. If a guy frees up that they like, having the space to bring him in is a big advantage. However, I don't think they're going to go out on the open market with $8.5m burning a hole in their pocket either. They'll potentially have a lot of money freed up over the next 18 months but it's likely all already accounted for in the 18 months after that. So I think staying flexible financially will be the name of the game.

Also, even with his deep pockets, I don't see Dolan overlooking an opportunity to save a little bit of money during this period.

I think the question is are fans ok w the team not really trying to get in the playoffs this year and ride out the Smith and Staal contracts ..... mean a LD I so blah and they wait on kids

Also keeping ADA until Lundkvist shows he’s that good again this year

pretty much all of Dolan's money is in the Entertainment Business and MSG Ent/Sports are getting pounded by the pandemic. They just laid off like half their corporate staff. it's not unlikely we end up being an internal cap team.

If Marc Staal would allow the Rangers to either bury his contract or loan him somewhere in Europe for the season while demoting him I'd honestly just lean towards that.

I really think Smith has a tradeable contract

I’m amazed people want to trade for Laine just amazed makes literally zero sense with the wingers we have kid has been so up and down, makes a ton of money just completely ridiculous
