It's funny because that 2013 draft has player comparables I've referenced before.

From a production standpoint, I view Kakk0's upside as being on par with someone like Barkov, while I view Lafreniere's production upside as being closer to MacKinnon's .

So, if everything worked out, a guy who is capable of totals in the mid-90s, and a guy who is capable of surpassing 100 points.
I'll definitely take that

You cannot possibly have a log jam at RW when by including LW into the count. There is no log jam.

Balancing the roster out is FAR different than fictitious log jams nor is a way to accomplish it is by trading top line production or top defense scoring for pure prospects. That is not balancing the roster out.

Who is included in this logjam? Buchnevich, Kakko, Kravtsov, Gauthier? Am I missing anyone of importance?

Here is a list of the best 100 faceoff guys in the NHL last year.

Face-off stats- 2019-20 regular season - 2019 - Puckbase

I want at least one of those guys.

1-61 are over 50% win rate.
1-19 are 55% or over. This is where the Rangers should be shopping.

Improve the bottom six in 2020. Go big game hunting in 2021.
I remember a certain poster screaming about getting Beagle last summer.

And getting flamed.

(still sore over that one)

Some people can’t get over players that have hurt the Rangers in the playoffs.

Beagle made a hell of a lot more than I thought he would, but you can argue that he was an incredible signing for Vancouver as well - Faceoffs. And PKs

Henrique is the guy. He’s much cheaper to get compared to Dvorak. Just have to fit his salary in.

Maybe we can trade Strome for a first to help us get Lundell.

trade a 3rd for Henrique.

a 3rd likely wont bring ANA's leading scorer, but at that price i wouldn't hate it

you've read my concerns: his Cap Hit and term concerns me, and by the time NYR are ready to contend in ~2+ years, he's well past typical NHL prime

I do not know ANH’s situation but I am thinking they want to rebuild? The Rangers could use another center
NYR trade: ???
ANH trade: A. Henrique
What would the Rangers have to give up?
I think Henrique would be great with Panarin. Henrique can score 20-30 goals as his past has shown. He’s a better finisher than Strome who (even though had a great season) missed A LOT of chances that Panarin set him up for. Honestly, the amount of chances Strome had, I think Henrique would’ve scored 30+ this year with Panarin.
I would put Strome on the 3rd line, he adds nice depth. I would put Chytil at W since I don’t think he’s ready yet to man the C position.

Players:

Faceoff 50%+ Win Rate and Probably Good at Penalty Killing (avg. SH TOI > 2:00 / CFRel % better than -2.5)

Not saying Rangers should get them but wanted to condense the pool of available players a bit. And maybe he Rangers should get them.

Ten Forwards. Obviously not all are available but worth a look. PGPK is a new stat I just created. Deal with it.

Some interesting players just missed the cut too. Won’t get into that now though.

Pageau is looking like a solid signing at $3M a year yet half the board hated him lol

It’s actually that Beagle is bad and is paid like he’s good.
Beagle is a moneypuck player. Great faceoffs. Great PK. Great playoff performer relative to his role. Yeah his contract isn’t great but I don’t Vancouver is complaining about it right now.

Most people on here will tell you that my projections tend to be on the conservative side. That's just how I roll.

But I really can't state enough just how different Kakko and Lafreniere are for this organization.

This is new terrtitory in many ways. We don't have a reference point along these lines, for a first and second overall pick, in modern franchise history.

And that difference between a first/second overall pick, and a guy taken fourth, or 6th, 7th, 9th, or 10th, is significant. It really is.

When that ball came up with the Rangers logo last year, it changed the conversation.

When it came up this year, it changed the entire landscape in which that conversation was taking place.

There is a slight difference. Instead of keeping Strome, I would trade him for capital to try to get Lundell.

Henrique is 30 years old. 4 year contract doesn’t scare me. Worst case, we can move him after 2 years.

I honestly think he’s a 30 goal scorer with Panarin. He’s also great on face offs.

Strome will get 5m+ so his salary is almost a wash to Henrique’s cap hit.

A bit of a dilemma is that it’s childishly fun to speculate on getting really exciting players to watch — but looking around the league right now it’s the quality depth that really is the difference between the haves and have nots so to speak.
