I just don’t see what Jersey has to get him. They’d have to just about deplete their prospect depth.

Jersey does have 3 first round draft picks--maybe Calgary would like to pick from what's left.

Buffalo not so much--unless Eichel wants him on his wing then maybe they trade 8OA or a Reinhart package.

Kakko needs another Finn on the team, so Reunanen would do the job.

“With Tarmo, it’s great to get a chance to speak Finnish,” Kakko said. “Days roll by more nicely when you don’t have to binge-watch shows by yourself.”

I do not think that an untried would be rookie can be the plan to play with the guy that has the heaviest usage on the team.

I am beginning to think that the plan may be a stop gap.

there is a good chance that any options on LD next year will be a stop gap until staal & smith contracts are gone and some of the prospects have time to develop...i definitely wouldn't expect anything close to a finished product on the left side next year

Speaking of Reinhart--what's everyone's thoughts on him if the Rangers can get him ?

Could a package of Buch and Hajek/Jones get back Reinhart and McCabe ? Maybe the Rangers add a third round pick.

If Hank retired, and NYR went out and blew all the cap space on big contracts, we'd fully deserve not being able to re-sign Fox, Kakko, Zibanejad, Chytil, and the like.

Panarin was our big UFA and Trouba was our big trade. The rest is either going to have to be Yandle trades where we give up a lot for retention on the contract, or young cap controlled olayers.

I would not be shocked if the stop gap is here for 2-3 years.

Then when mentioning who gets to pass who on the depth charge, why to you throw all positions and mix them up in a pot like gumbo?

I didn't do that, I said very clearly "even if Buch is the second best RW on the roster," - which I also added the qualifier that I find that to be unlikely - roster construction and line balance would have it make more sense to roll Panarin - Lafreniere - Kreider down the left wing, and that's your "pay heavy," side, while going cheaper on the right side.

You still roll three scoring lines, but instead of all third line players on your third line, you have a second line player (Kreider) on your third line and a third line player (like Fast) on your second line, perhaps. Paying Buch $5m+ just doesn't make sense when you are paying Panarin, Lafreniere (eventually, in about 3 years), Kreider, Kakko (in about 2 years), Zibanejad, and you probably need to pay a center at some point as well (maybe Chytil).

But really in all likelihood Kravtsov supplants Buch while on a much cheaper contract than Buch's next contract (either during a Kravtsov ELC or bridge), so it's kinda moot anyway.

What does this have to do with the right side? And again, you should only be so luck to have a 55 point right wing be actually your second line player.

What do you expect to pay for a young wing who has top line production?

Lafreniere will be on his ECL and then has RFA years. That is much more than 3 years. And can he actually produce like Kane first before we worry about what that contract looks like? Ditto for Kakko.

Can you point to just a single piece of actual evidence that would make someone think that this is anything other than pure fantasy land conjecture?

+ Chychrun (built around Buchnevich, Hajek, Carolina #1)
+ W. Nylander (built around ADA + Georgie)
+ Mantha (built around Kravtsov, Lindbom, Lias/Henriksson, Robertsson/Jones, pick(s))
+ Josh Andersson (built around Strome)
+ LAF
+ 2-3 UFAs on the cheap
- Staal and Hank retire...
That would be quite the off-season. Not all this will happen. But some might.
Would not be cheap. But there is opportunity to make (some) things happen
Get er done GMJG!

are you just having fun,
or would you really consider all that?

Chychrun makes sense

But the rest is so wing centric -
how does it make sense for this team
-with Bread, Kreider, Buch, Kakko, Laf, Lemieux, w Gauthier and Krav in line -
to expend so much of their talent capital, to add guys at wing, who may just be lateral moves?

if they add a fulltime top 4 D, even though i believe that should wait a year, i get it
if they add a fulltime top 3 C, even though i believe that should wait a year, i get it

but i see no good reason to gut the rich pipeline to go sideways

just my opinion, i appreciate your posts ...

Reinhart could fit at 2/3C
to me, any deal w Buff should REALLY try to return Pekar, a rookie wing w size, skill and attitude; maybe Lindbom in the package helps ...

the main boards thinks Kakko + Laf for Point is biased towards the Rangers and I kinda want to deactivate my account after reading that.
Don’t you know kakko is already a bust and when Lafreniere only gets 40-50 points next year he will be a worthless bust as well.

I'll set the over/under at 1.5, and I'm taking the under.

literally no interest in Domi and tbh I'd rather have Strome than him

i like Domi yet Strome short term, if at all, is safer IMO. The whole future dynamic for this organization changed with two lottery wins and obtaining Fox on the cheap. Without them, yeah i could see a Domi. With them, the whole dynamic changed leading with the cap.
