I could see, maybeee, OEL going to Toronto for a collection of assets like when we traded for Nash, or like when we traded Gaborik away

Outside of them, and also the Panthers, there are only a handful of Western teams that I think would check in on the cost

unless you have personally scouted Lundell and have professional experience in projecting prospect development, I'm going to take your comment as random internet speculation (on a forum?!) which - fair enough - you can consider mine but I'm going with the common trend. Most draftees take 2-4 years before they reach the NHL so assuming he'll be on the team in 2-3 months seems naive. There's also covid. He has to tear things up in camp (and that's assuming we even have a proper camp) to even not spend the whole season in SM-liiga. Thing about it.

IF we trade Strome
IF we acquire Monahan/Lindholm (insert Sean Bean LotR meme)
IF we get the 8OA
IF Lundell is on the board
IF the Rangers actually draft him
IF the Rangers hold a proper camp
IF Lundell actually attends camp rather than just stay a season in SM-liiga which will probably have started and the US is still quite the ****show in regards to the pandemic
IF Lundell actually makes the team
IF Lundell actually sticks with the team
then, your plan all work out. That's so many ifs. I'm fine with you saying these are your hopes, but really expecting all that to play out? It could definitely happen - not everything in that list needs to happen but there is less than a 1% chance all of that does.
I guess I misunderstood what this place was. Because I thought this was a public hockey forum message board with a thread on Roster Building that is pretty much 95% of the time speculation, with the other 5% being made up of actual news. So I dont know maybe I am in the wrong place. I didnt know I had to be a professional scout to guess when Lundell will break into the NHL. Reading the experts opinions and watching highlight tape isnt enough to at least be qualified to speculate.

I mean we have you saying every draft pick takes 2-4 years to make their NHL debut. While that may be true for much of a draft class typically, every year is different, every prospect is different in where they are with their development and physical maturity. I have read opinions of people with more experience who feel he could be at the NHL level in 1-2 years. He has the size and ability to be there. The league is constantly getting younger.

And yes, there are a lot of IF’s in my wish list but again thats what this thread is for. And its based on Strome being an RFA who we may want to move because we 1) dont want to pay him his raise and/or 2) he is identified as not being a part of this core anyway moving forward so maximize his value now. Get the guys you feel will be worth it and help take the next steps. Yes I think they move Georgiev. And yes Buchnevich is a candidate too. Doesn’t mean they all will be moved. Maybe they sign stop gaps. A lot still TBD

But if this is all not what this place is for then I dont know what any of us are doing here.

come off it. This is a forum. I'm just trying to encourage you to use your brain and write something that is grounded closer to reality or back up your posts with some more of that thought. If you are looking to indulge in that level of arm chair GM fantasy, try posting your proposals in the trade forum and just watch your posts get burnt down. If that doesn't bother you, you are welcome to go full bernmeister and post all the crazy proposals you want but don't expect anyone to 'yessa' whatever you write. I'm a welcoming equal opportunity guy but if you post something and I come back with a counterpoint and all you have is "oh, i think I was on a forum" then don't waste my time.

Now Lundell, you're citing "people" with "opinions" that say Lundell could be in the NHL in 1-2 years. Yes, I believe I was one of them and my knowledge on him is pretty shakey. How are YOU justifying your statement that he'd be ready in 2-3 months? It really could happen but what are you offering to the conversation that isn't baseless speculation? You've been on this forum for some time so I shouldn't have to say any of this.

One of the things that gives me hope with the regime is that they are often good at targeting guys. Even when they can’t pull off the trade, they’re usually pretty good about going after the right guys - be it Pettersson, or Keller, or Zegras.
I'm still hot for Newhook but Zegras is up there with him in hotness alerts.

First, my man use your own brain...this is indeed a forum. I dont need to sit here and give you a thorough doc set on all the intricate details of possible moves. They are mere suggestions. All main pieces of each suggestion with legitimacy as a possibility given the circumstances of the team. All having been discussed by the many posters here. Maybe you have nothing better to do with your day but I am not going to break down every inch of a trade proposal. Maybe you should “come off it” if you have such high expectations here. I don’t need to go post in the cesspool that is the Trade Forum. This is the Rangers forum. I am throwing out names that many have been discussing here not expecting to need extravagant detail to keep the conversation going. I gave preliminary parameters to each deal. All of which someone else can step in and say what would need to be adjusted for value to be fair. That’s part of having an interaction. If you really, really don’t agree with someone, please you don’t have to be the forum hall monitor or authority on subject substance, bitching and moaning that the opinion is not to your standards. Yeah my counter response was sarcasm to your post, which was just as much berating because there were too many “what if’s” or missing information for you.

I said Lundell could be ready to join the team 2-3 months into next season, which is likely starting in late December. In essence it would be about March/April. In normal circumstances that would be almost a full year removed from June when the draft is typically held. At that time he would have completed his D+1 season. No I dont have time to go back and search for the respected prospect analysts who think he is only 1-2 years away at most from playing in the NHL. I did say I am basing it off of his physical maturity, raw abilities and size, and that he has been playing in Liiga the last two season’s amongst men and is set to wear the “A” this year. Sorry I do not have charts, graphs, or spreadsheets put together to your satisfaction.

You’re right I have been around here a long time. If you dont like the opinions, just go ahead and hit the ignore button. Its perfectly ok.

Ahead of Hughes, Kakko & Dach?

I “liked” him better based on style.

But, full disclosure, that doesn’t always mean I think a guy is the better player.

For example my favorite player in 2018 was Farabee.

In 2016, it was Matthew Tkachuk.

But interestingly enough none of those guys were my top ranked prospect.

Long story short. Used to work for the rangers and the league. Still do some work with the league and have a decent list of connections.

To the point, Rangers-Oilers were deep into talks last summer as the Rangers looked to get back into the top 10 (see news stories on that from NY Post). Buch was target, Oilers decided to go with the pick, deal died with about 1 minute left on the draft clock.

That's the abbreviated version.
That's cool. I get very skeptical when it comes to internet rumors but if you have the goods that's awesome. I remember watching a trade deadline based episode of 24CH and when the Habs were basically on the brink of finalizing a couple trades, Bergevin's personal assistant wasn't even told which players were being acquired. She was only told what city the players were in and what their nationalities were so she could work on booking them travel. That's how buttoned up these organizations are. Yet every Joe Insider claims to have scoops for days, lol.

Imagine if we did nothing but sign our players for next year and let the contracts of the old guys expire before we do anything major. It's not that bad for now

Kreider Zibanejad Buch
Panarin Strome Kakko
Lafrienierre Chytil Fast
Lemieux Howden Gauthier.

Smith Trouba
Lindgren fox
Hajek/Miller/Staal Deangelo

Did you just ask us to imagine the team we witnessed already? (with the exception of the kid whose name you haven't learned yet)

yes to this with an * on Fast as it would be not great if he ended up with a Hagelin-esque $16/4 extension. Not clear if Barron is ready to make the jump but he's a potential replacement for Fast.
I'm in no rush to make next season one where we force ourselves into bad roster decisions. Of course if Gorton has a "good hockey trade" available, pull the trigger.
