2d rounder means AAV under $4.23M

Offer Sheet Calculator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
$2,113,717 - $4,227,4371 Second Round Pick

but i always find the Offer Sheet proposals here kinda irrelevant,
making the offer doesn't mean player will sign it
i was surprised Aho signed w Habs last year, but they do have a handful of young Finns, that might have appealed

Carolina may not have been at 8 per

the idea of having trouba, fox and ADA as your right side D is enticing. thats a very strong top 3.

tony doesnt play top end matchup D but as a PP1 QB and a 3rd line offensive puck mover, he was the best in the league in creating chances.

BEST IN THE LEAGUE. his numbers last year were outwardly. like i mean freakishly good.

nils lundkvist is a very very good prospect but as of right now hes a year away at the soonest and who knows what his game will translate to. he may be 2 years away before he even makes an impact.

give ADA a 3 yr 5.5 mil per deal and thats perfect.

moving ADA for a pick or a middling forward is lunacy. giving him away for cap room is just dumb.

ADA has a chance to be our cale makar next season. sign him.

I don't think Shesterkin has the value to other teams that he has to us

I think he as much or more. Most teams don’t have a promising young backup like Georgiev.

Yeah, I imagine Fox will probably be getting the A not too long after Staal is off the roster.

I’d put the following players in front of Fox when it comes to likelihood of a letter: Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin, Lafreniere, Fast, Trouba, Lindgren.

I have seen people speak highly of Tony on NYR boards but this is a new one for sure. We would be lucky if Fox panned out to be as good as Makar.

Tony is a great offensive defenseman BUT he will never move ahead of Fox and Trouba on the right hand side. After winning the Kakko and Lafreniere lotteries, I disagree with paying a third pairing, "drives offense on his own" defenseman $5M+ per year.

Is there really no trade partner out there who has a lot of forward/center depth but needs an affordable top 4 RHD? Los Angeles? Tampa?

Tampa already traded DeAngelo. Doubt they want him back.

also, Anaheim has lots of prospects but do they need defense?

Looking at Anaheim, they really have no RD over there. They have a lot of prospects but i doubt they trade Steel. Would Lundestrom interest us? Only issue is he's a future guy, won't really help right now or any of their LD?

DeAngelo was 3rd in TOI 5v5 last year.

Our top 3 were all of our RHD.

Also, Makar is really just a great offensive defenseman right now. His defense is still pretty green.

The only trick for a Cirelli offer sheet is that Tampa has an advantage in regards to total salary because of how OS compensation works.

They could offer (theoretically, of course) him an 8 year/44M salary for a 5.5M AAV, but if the Rangers were to offer him the same total salary for a 5-7 year deal, it would be an 8.8M AAV (in terms of compensation, for the cap it would be calculated as normal). That compensation tier is two 1st + 2nd + 3rd.

I don't think his camp would want an 8 year deal or encourage him to sign an offersheet that long either. They'd want something that takes him to around the UFA eligibility mark, which is 4 years away (7/15 birthday but already 3 years complete in NHL).

That being said, the Rangers could definitely throw him a 5-year OS deal around 27.5M salary (1st+3rd for compensation b/c 5.5M AAV both actual and compensation), which should hamper Tampa a bit, assuming they don't find a way to move many contracts. Again, to re-iterate, they can get to ~11M in space if they move all of there non-clause contracts (excluding Point/Vasi), but that would also take a decent chunk out of roster.

It's weird how we're talking about people older than Makar developing into Makar.

I guess... but he's already "developed" from a gamble of a 4th overall pick from the AJHL to a legitimate top pairing defenseman in the league. He is a tier above Fox currently and mentioning ADA with him in the same sentence is absurd

There is not a snowballs chance in hell he signs that OS.

If you are not close to 7 per, you may as well drop the subject.

There is no enticement for Cirelli to leave that winning culture at 27 over 5.

Hed be a fool to sign it

I suggested ADA for Lindholm plus about a week ago, and the verdict was cold. I guess he isn't as good as Ducks fans claim.

makar is special.

ADA has a chance to develop into a player similar to makar.

both are offensively gifted dmen who push the play and create chances. makar has elite hockey sense. ADA also has a very high hockey IQ.

and i agree, if you watch makar play, his defense isnt really a strength right now.
