I've thought of Shesty as the weird blockbuster trade candidate, not Fox. If you're gunshy about ever paying a goalie such and such percentage of the cap again, you get an offer for him you really like and you think Alex Georgiev is a guy you can trust? But in the annoying HFBoards parlance i'm not sure even Shesty brings back a "bonafide number one center"
I don't think Shesterkin has the value to other teams that he has to us

I'm sure the advanced stats community can come up with a reason why this is a horrible comparison but i found this interesting.

Through their age 24 seasons:

Anthony DeAngelo: 200 gp, 24g, 81a, 105 pts, -13
Kevin Shattenkirk: 201 gp, 23g, 86a, 109 points, +18

edit: yes i am well aware that the 2020 season was shortened due to Covid-19

DeAngelo's 5v5 production>Shattenkirk's.

Shatty has been a guy who has had almost half of his production come via the PP until the knee injury. This isn't a bad thing as he was arguably the most productive PP D in the league for a good 4-5 seasons.

Also 83 of DeAngelo's 105 points have come in the last 129 games (54 at ES). They aren't really comparable at all other than being US born RHD. I would imagine that Tony murders Shattenkirk when it comes to the transition numbers.

And this needs to be highlighted, but he did what he did this season while carrying around perhaps the worst defenseman in the league. The fact that his ES production was as high as it was despite having Staal as a partner speaks volumes.

Rangers Golden Knights Proposal
William Carrier for Lias Andersson??

Rangers need more sandpaper with enough skill to PK and play 10 mins a night

Wouldn’t need to trade Fox for Cirelli. Gorton can offer sheet him... someone posted earlier that the compensation would be a 2021 2nd rounder
2d rounder means AAV under $4.23M

Offer Sheet Calculator - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps
$2,113,717 - $4,227,4371 Second Round Pick

but i always find the Offer Sheet proposals here kinda irrelevant,
making the offer doesn't mean player will sign it
i was surprised Aho signed w Habs last year, but they do have a handful of young Finns, that might have appealed

not enough and not right guy in my mind, but that's just my long-view position, next season means little, except advancing the kids

i know others want to build on the strong Feb-March and summer post-season experience
i don't see NYR contending until after next summer at least,
get past the Cap Hits and the Seattle draft
and give kids the ice time that vets might consume
to me that will best prep the org to contend in 2 years or so

Am i missing something here? Even strength production during the timeframe discussed previously:

Shattenkirk: 13g, 55a, 68 pts
DeAngelo: 16g, 40a, 56 pts

Again, I don't know too much about advanced stats but i've seen even strength CF% used as a good indicator for possession metrics?

Shattenkirk: 51.2%, 55.7%, 54.7%, 55.2%
DeAngelo: 46.0%, 50.2%, 46.3%, 48.6%

By the way, Shattenkirk's partner for most of that was NHL All Star Barret Jackman

I keep seeing the 2 words "offer sheet" come up over and over as if it's even a remote possibility.

As long as JD, the epitome of old school is here?
Nobody is getting an offer sheet..

Adam Fox is almost assured a staple of this team for the next decade. He is a young, complete defenseman that has legit #1 upside. Those players almost are never traded

He already is a #1, based off this past season.

I like Trouba, but thats debatable.Fox is our most complete defenseman and hes only going to get better.

Fox couldn't handle Trouba's assignments.

That's not to say he couldn't after he puts his time in but as of right now?

Nope..

The time fame is flawed to begin with (DeAngelo was in an out of the lineup frequently until last season), but yeah, Shatty didn't turn into a true PP driven production guy until his age 25 season, you're right about that.

But DeAngelo's 34 ES points this year eclipse Shatty's best season (which funny enough, was this year) this is with the anchor known as Staal next to him 5v5, who murders anything that resembles offense (and defense and.... well you get the point.)

And no, CF is not really great used on its own. Relative numbers/quality of teammates/quality of the team itself really needs to be taken into consideration. Also That version of Jackman>>>>>Staal. I don't think I can reiterate just how horrible Staal was this year when he wasn't paired with DeAngelo.
