Because he sucks.

I don't want to sign heavy bodies just to sign heavy bodies. We need heavy bodies that can play the game. No Wayne Simmons, no Matt Martin, No Ryan Reeves (though I feel one of the last 2 are inevitable.)
But i said i don't want any but IF we did get a guy like that, Simmonds would be my pick since he's a RW. Relax

I really don't know that I see a burning need to go after any forwards, provided we re-sign Fast.

Mostly, I don't think the fact that we weren't hard enough to play against has anything to do with personnel.

It does.

I agree that it’s more of a mindset than it is having the personnel, but we’re really one dimensional in that regard in the top 9.

Almost all of this teams bite is in the back end which is good, but it’s needed upfront as well.

Need those skilled guys with bite in the mold of a Gallagher. Not easy to find

I'm sure the advanced stats community can come up with a reason why this is a horrible comparison but i found this interesting.

Through their age 24 seasons:

Anthony DeAngelo: 200 gp, 24g, 81a, 105 pts, -13
Kevin Shattenkirk: 201 gp, 23g, 86a, 109 points, +18

edit: yes i am well aware that the 2020 season was shortened due to Covid-19
Advanced stats are actually where Tony shines, best player in the league at transition offence behind McDavid

Best HDCF/60 of any dman in the NHL (this means the Rangers generated more high danger scoring chances with him on the ice, than any team in the NHL did with any other defenseman, which was quite the feat in the 2018-19 season when the Rangers were one of worst in this category)

Not that i want this to happen but can anybody see Fox being the odd man out here at RD? With DeAngelo needing a new deal, maybe he isn't as valuable as we think and maybe Fox is the one that teams will be more interested in since he's more affordable?

Fox is on an ELC for 2 more years. They aren't getting rid of him, and I doubt even when he signs his first SPC

How many would they have had with a 82 game schedule? At least 3 and as many as 5, with DeAngelo being one of the 5.

You do realize that most teams, even the best teams, usually only have 3-4 guys over 60 points right?

The trendy, pre real playoff EC favorite Flyers had 1 player this season who eclipsed 60.

Bruins also had 2.

Vegas had 2

Colorado had 1, Injuries played a factor, but I'm sticking with your parameters.

Just to add to this: Pittsburgh had 1 player with over 60 points (Malkin; Crosby had 47 in 41 games). Washington had 2 (Carlson and Ovie). Vancouver had 2 (JT Miller lmfao and Pettersson). Blues had 2 (ROR and Perron). TBL had the most out of the 6 or 7 teams I checked with 3 (Kucherov, Stamkos, Point).

NYR, with Strome 1 point away from 60 and ADA a little over a handful of points away from 60 himself, would have been one of maybe 5 or 6 teams in the league with 4 60+ point players. 5 I think would have been too much of a stretch (Buch was sitting at 46 points with 68 games played), but 4 would have been plausible.

Always interesting to look back like 5 years and compare to the current season to see how the offensive output landscape has changed and what is considered top line/above average output.

I meant if a team offers you a top C prospect for Fox since he is more affordable to most teams than DeAngelo. I don't know if anybody is offering a top prospect for DeAngelo. Like if Anaheim offers you Zegras for Fox, do you do it?

Unless it's a Byfield or Stützle caliber center prospect, I don't see us trading Fox any time soon.

Interesting thing to think about. Fox or Drysdale who is sometimes mocked as a top 5 pick? I'd think most GMs would rather have Fox if they were given the choice right now.

I've thought of Shesty as the weird blockbuster trade candidate, not Fox. If you're gunshy about ever paying a goalie such and such percentage of the cap again, you get an offer for him you really like and you think Alex Georgiev is a guy you can trust? But in the annoying HFBoards parlance i'm not sure even Shesty brings back a "bonafide number one center"

I don't either. I was asking if teams would be more interested in Fox than DeAngelo due to Fox being cheaper.

ADA's past is going to haunt him for the rest of his NHL career, whether it bears any weight on how he has grown/matured or not. Fox's only "baggage" was not signing with the team that traded for his rights. More teams would be interested in Fox based solely on the fact that he hasn't had issues follow him through multiple organizations (including NYR). Fox is also younger, just came into the league, and put up comparable numbers to ADA with 70 NHL games under his belt, compared to ADA's 200 games where he's just now looking like he's starting to put some things together.
