before the last 2 days, i would have expected him back and been glad of that

this social media nonsense went too far this week, inviting a 'fan' to scuffle outside MSG after a game

View attachment 362551

Auston Matthews tried to break into a female's car late at night in Arizona while drunk and proceeded to moon her. Did the Leafs trade him? If a small Twitter scuffle like that is enough to make you trade someone that talented, you're not a well run franchise.

Patrick Kane straight up assaulted someone.

He didn't talk about doing it, he did it.

What are people's opinion of Brandon Montour? I'll be the first to say that I did NOT watch many Buffalo games this season so I am looking to become educated on him. Reclamation project?

Here's where my head is at. If Buffalo were indeed interested in ADA and offered their 1st this year + Montour + ______, would the Rangers be interested, knowing Montour could be a 3RD option for a year or two (perhaps they work out a 2-year deal where they offer him up to Seattle) while Nils plays another year in Sweden. Or perhaps Montour plays well in NY and is moved for help elsewhere.
BUF isn't interested in DeAngelo. They have other needs, namely 2C, which makes any kind of deal with NYR illogical from the get go.

The more I think on it, the more I like the idea of offering Fast and Haula contracts to be the veteran utility knife players young teams need. Guys who can play PK, PP, up and down the lineup (in Haula's case, center or wing) and are defensively responsible. They both create havoc on the forecheck and are very good PKers. If that was the path forward I'd be okay with having Haula be the 2/3C for the next 3-4 years while Chytil develops. It would free up Buch or Strome as a trade chip as well.

Panarin-Chytil-Strome
Kreider-Zib-Kaako
Lafreniere-Haula-Gauthier/Fast
Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier/Fast

This assumes Buch is traded

Haula for 4 years @ $4m per season
Fast for 3 years @ $3m per season
Where are you getting all this money?

Wouldn't mind either, but where do they fit, Clifford more specifically?

Depending on how they utilize Kreider and Lemieux, he could play fourth line LW, or potentially slide over to the right side.

But that depends on if they play to use Kreider on the right side and bump Lemieux up. Or, interestingly enough, if Lemieux is part of the cost to make another move.

I'd assume 4RW? Assuming no Fast and no other moves either he would fit in a hell of a lot better than McKegg, Haley or Brendan Smith

Kreider Zib Buch
Panarin Strome Kakko
Lafreniere Chytil Gauthier
Lemieux Howden Clifford

sure - deangelo would crush the rangers on the arbitration floor.

those 3 year numbers i put up belong to dougie hamilton, who is a 3 time all-star.

the most i'd give to deangelo is 4.25 million a year for 3 years.

Nope that's not me.
I've been a supporter since the Step deal, although i do think that circumstances (Fox, Trouba, Nils) do make him a possible trade chip.

I do believe this 'Lou' crap could change his standing with the team.
Inviting a guy to confront, face-to-face, at the arena after a game - that is pretty extreme.
Could get league attention as well as FO. And we all know that Dolan is unpredictable.

It was just a remarkably stupid move, which brings questions about his judgement, about what he might do or say tomorrow, and whether he is worth big/long money.
I think folks who shrug it off as nothing may be overly optimistic.

Personally, my take on ADA as a trade chip is partially based on feedback, and partially based on logic.

Trouba and Fox aren't going anywhere.

ADA and Lundkvist aren't likely to switch to the left side.

The Rangers plan to fill other areas from positions of depth. That leaves the choice between ADA and Lundkvist.

ADA has the NHL track record under him at this point, but that track record will also come with a financial cost.

Lundkvist's appeal is based more on potential than NHL results, but those ELCs are gold in today's climate.

It really depends on who the trade partner is. If they're looking for balance, like the Rangers, they're more likely to want NHL talent back.

If they're building for the future, they're more likely to want a future piece.

But, like anything else, the Rangers only have so much cap room to pay every position. And at some point, someone we like, with an NHL salary, is probably going to go.

3 year deal for Clifford? Are we trying to relive the Tanner Glass experience or what?

Doesn't Lemieux bring most of what Clifford would while being younger and better? Am I missing something?

I didn't say I wanted 3 years I was trying to grasp what we can expect him to get.

I'd prefer 2 years, not sure on the salary.

Lemieux can play RW or LW can't he? I remember reading that he can play either wing and I believe he has bounced between the two with the Rangers
