I like NYI odds against PHI or BOS better than TBL. Hoping for one lower-ranked team in each conference making the CF, our pick would be 22. Probably NYI and Van are our best bets. Depends who is facing LVK.
Vegas and Colorado will likely be the WCF, since I think they win vs any two of CGY/DAL/VAN/STL. So honestly, 23 is probably the pick. I like NYI's chance in a series vs PHI or BOS.

Something like that.
That would be a monumental mistake. Lundkvist’ ceiling could be Lindholm’s level of play. Jones is quickly climbing the ranks and getting noticed since his draft year. And then the 1st on top of it???

HUGE PASS. Sign a vet stopgap and buy time for Miller, Robertson, Jones to continue to develop. Still have Hajek. And you have Reunanen as a possible option. Rykov probably out of the fold. But they have a lot of options coming.

I really don't think we need to aim big. We need a mobile LD that can play with Trouba. Doesn't have to be a legit top pairing dman. How is Larsson on Anaheim? Larsson and Steel for DeAngelo and Rykov or something like that?

It's going to take all of those guys time to get to the point where they can reliably eat top 4/2 minutes.

They kind of need that guy and they need him soon.

I think Miller can be there in 2-3 years. And like I said I think you can find those top 4 minutes handled by a serviceable and cheaper option. I will keep pushing Dillon. But I am sure there will be other options.

I also think Lundkvist is only going to make himself an even more elite prospect this year with another great season in the SHL. If we aren’t going to keep him it would be a waste of his value for a 26 year old defenseman with an expiring contract in 2 years.

I know its an overpayment. I said it would be.

What's it worth to add a d-man like MacTruck for matchups/shutdown?

We only have so many spots. We will need to make a quantity for quality trade sooner or later.
I didn't realize Hampus was only 26. When will he be a UFA? And i don't really want to move Nils.

My penis tingles every time I think about having Miller, Robertson and Jones as LHD prospects in our system. I don’t think all three will be given a chance to eventually make the club though.

With Lindgren solidifying himself as a capable NHL dmen, I think someone’s days are numbered. Especially when you throw Hajek into the mix, who also might be someone moved for a C/LD.

Gorton has certainly amassed a great deal of trade chips.

A flat cap could be a huge blessing in disguise for us with the amount of prospects we have, along with the billions coming off the cap next year.

Dont disagree, but that time is not now. And you are selling too soon on Lundkvist’s and Jones value that I think will continue to rise and when you are ready to make a move you could potentially net a better player than Lindholm and not have to give up both either

Hampus Lindholm fits this team like a glove.

Would be my #1 trade target this fall.

Same but Ducks fans around here think you need to give up an arm, a leg and an eye just to get him. He's not a top 10 defenseman in the league. Or even top 15. Maybe not even top 20. He's still very good but Anaheim fans are wild.

Good thing they're not the GM and idiotic Bob Murray is!

2 more years. Same time Zbad is due for a raise. Probably looking at 10M for Zbad if he has another dominant season.. And who knows about Lindholm. 8M?

I love Lindholm, but I don’t see Gorton taking on such a risky investment with so many unknowns at this point.

Yeah that's way too risky

We need serviceable in place of Staal, we need more than that for a top pair.

Like it or not, the Rangers really need to do what they can to try and win, or at least push forward ASAP. They've got 2 years left of Zibanejad on his current deal and Fox/Kakko on their ELC's before they're forced to make some really tough decisions. They'll be able to reload the system pretty quickly if need be, but with all of the big money they've handed out in the last few years + the sheer luck they've had in the lottery the last 2 years, this is the position that they're in.

Jonas Brodin has been brought up also, which wouldn't be a bad choice either. He's an excellent skater and defensive defenseman. He would do well on Trouba's side.

Problem is we'd have to pay him next year and he'd probably get 5M plus.

Strome for Brodin?

I mentioned him a couple of weeks ago. He would be great with Trouba

Does anyone think it's a possibility this team trades Mika in the next 2 years for a young potential 1C? I wouldn't do it but you have to think it's a possibility, especially if Mika is looking at 10 million plus a season.

I agree with a lot of this but I just dont think Lindholm is the right target for a combination of reasons, timing with his contract status, his age to an extent, and our own assets could bring in better if we are going to package them. Adding Lindholm into the mix of contracts to navigate in 2 years is just asking for hell.

Ideally I’d be looking for an LD 23-25 years old with RFA rights and/or a contract that has 3 or more years after this one.
