I wish we had Renney after AV was fired.

He served his purpose and it was time to move on when we did.

If I had to rank the ranger coaches post lock out it'd look something like this

Torts
Gallant (prob INC as hes only been here a year)
Renney

Quinn

AV
How do you expect to be taken seriously when after a SCF and ECF appearance, you rank AV last?

When did Pat Kane become a power forward? Cam Neely is throwing up in a garbage can after reading that tweet

AV is the coach who, after his first year, did the least with the most.

He had by far the best rosters of any of the other coaches, and the team got worse every year of his tenure.

AV had only had success in the NHL with HOF goaltending. Luongo in Vancouver, and henrik in NY.

Everybody else he coached sucked. His only good season in Philly will probably prove to be Carter harts career year

He’s a bad coach

Evander Kane would be such a dino lou move.

maybe that's why Lou ditched the Miller move easier than he otherwise would have. Throw money at Kane. Lou is 90, no chance he is stuck with the latter half of that contract he hands out. Evander will enjoy NY especially if you give him the highest contract offer on the market. Now that you mention it, this is almost certainly exactly what's gonna happen. I don't know much about their cap situation but Romanov should be cheap to sign.

My take on AV is that his style left our defensemen out to dry on an island, and it was too much for an aging veteran D core of guys like Girardi, Staal, Klein who were not particularly mobile or rangy to begin with.

The three point line was around for two decades before it boomed. The entire geometry and patterns of the sport is going to change. Not a big deal....
Basketball changed because of foul rules. I'm pretty sure nothing will change hockey because fouling is not only allowed, it's encouraged as a style of play.

There are more than a few examples of 5-6 year deals that don’t stay with the same team. Kreider and Trouba are not likely to last their entire contracts. Copp would be the same more than likely. Structure it properly
You can fix unwanted contracts. Problem is that it is expensive. See the Kassian trade for the latest example.

To AZI:
- Zach Kassian
- 2022 1st RD pick (EDM #29)
- 2025 2nd RD pick
- 2024 3rd RD pick

To EDM:
- 2022 1st RD pick (COL #32)

I like that 2025 2nd round pick. Edmonton is bleeding out.

Kassian was and never will be as useful as either of those players. I also don’t see a 2nd and 3rd being that expensive (especially with Edmonton’s history). Dropping 3 spots at the end of the first isn’t that big of a deal either.

It will be so satisfying when he wins the Calder, I’m going to look like Nostradamus
And since he’s back now, can you stop your trolling campaign with Kakko? We’re in a good spot having both players and both will fill key roles here.

He doesn't, so I wouldn't bother too much. UnSerious. I'm no AV fan, but to think he's behind Torts and Renney? It's a sick dream. It's revisionist history.

Torts couldn't get what he did out of the 14 and 15 teams. Torts never puts together Zuccarello-Brassard-Pouliot. He never wanted to play Zucc to begin with. Pouliot would have been on waivers.

Torts chased Gaborik out of NYC. Some good that did cause he's as big of a reason that 13-14 team lost in the Final to LA.

All the coaches got carries by Hank in the end. AV was able to harness the rest of the roster enough to get them as close to over the hump as they've been since 94.
