I don't think they do. We're just more aware of the ones here. Ask a Kings fan if they heard about Julien Gauthier asking for a trade.
It's like when Staple or someone mentioned last season that several guys over the past few years have asked out from Hartford, and the usual crew trotted out the "Hartford is a f***ing cesspool and no one wants to play there" line. Totally ignoring the fact that in the minors, where guys have very limited windows to NHL careers, they ask for trades all the damn time, in every organization (also ignoring that we've never had any problem signing guys to play in Hartford, including those who know exactly what it is).

What if the team just said f*** centers went for:

Georgiev + Gauthier for 3rd + 5th

Signed:
Larsson - 2 years at $1.5m per season
Hornqvist -2 years at $1.2m per season
Vlasic - 2 years at $1m per season
Motte - 4 years at $1.9m per season
Mrazek - 2 years at $1.2m per season

Kreider-Zibanejad-Kravtsov
Panarin-Chytil-Kaako
Lafreniere-Goodrow-Blais
Motte-Larsson-Hornqvist
Reaves

Miller-Fox
Jones-Trouba
Lindgren-Schneider
Vlasic

Shesty
Mrazek

If the Rangers don’t sign or trade for a legitimate 2C, I would consider Nemeth for Monahan and a 2nd. Nobody is taking Monahan’s $6.4M cap hit for free.

I agree with you, what I just don't think the PLD is the guy to do that for. He's going to cost you a lot, he's got character issues which people here are trying to gloss over, and you're going to have to give him a giant contract to keep him here. We literally don't even know if he's just going to leave regardless in 2 years because he wants to go to Montreal. What if he only agrees decided to your deal that walks in the UFA status? What then? You traded this stuff and you're going to get a guy who might be a malcontent for 2 years until he can leave and go where you really wants to go is at UFA? Gorts got us two impact players that wanted to be here without going crazy, he's patient and calculated. He's going to oversee the same sort of thing in Montreal if PLD eventually wants to go there. I just don't want to be taking on a headache that two other teams have had to dump off in the process trading our main pieces that we have left to fill the 2C situation.

Ya know the Yankees have been used in this thread as a cautionary tale of organizational mismanagement because of holding on to prospects when deals were available and while I do share that frustration, that's only part of the story. I'll flip the coin to its other side and use the same organization to show your concern.

Justus Sheffield
James Kaprielian

Both top Yankees prospects ie high end trade chips that the Yankees had no problem in moving in deals for needs. The problem here is they ended up trading them away for the wrong players in James Paxton and Sonny Gray. The Yanks hurt themselves just as much here as they wasted their top trade chips when targeting the wrong players, ending up with little to show from it.

By drafting BPA and having high picks, they have a bunch of prospects/players with good trade capital. It should be used at some point to fill needs. It's just on who and it's imperative Drury gets that right.

Let’s trade for Monahan a worse player than Dubois. I rather trade Chytil for Dubois or someone who is the better player. Why make a trade for the worst player because it cost less. That is stupid asset management 🤫 I am just saying. That makes no sense. Monahan too injury prone and Dubois would be more worth it and the better player. Monahan is okay but overrated. Not a fan. He wold frustrate Rangers fans.

Looking more into Monahan’s buyout numbers, Calgary would be just as well buying him out instead of taking Nemeth. They will need to pay another team to take the full hit, or just buy him out…or just hold him if he goes IR….

I still maintain we don’t need such a 2C upgrade. Either get a speedy defensive guy who isn’t allergic to scoring or play Chytil there and get a matchup 3C. We don’t need a super expensive center with Panarin on that line.
If we want to win instead of compete we need some large improvement at center and wing in the top 6. After playing TB and seeing Colorado we should see that. Never mind that Pitt and Carolina also dominated us at times. We can rearrange the deck chairs all we want on the bottom 6 but the guys playing 17-20 minutes need improvement.

Gauthier was signed for an amount that can be completely buried in Hartford with no effect on the cap. So either they trade him for another "take a flyer" guy, a late pick, keep him around as a spare forward, or send him to Hartford. And if he's claimed on his way down, oh well. Organizational depth is still a good thing to have.

Of course, since he wants out, it seems unlikely they'd keep him and try to send him to Hartford. I'd guess they just hold onto him for awhile and see if anyone offers something of interest to them, and if not, they'll basically just give him away closer to camp.

I can think of eight hundred thousand reasons guaranteed Gauthier re signed and asked for a trade.

They'll trade him for a pylon defenseman flyer, this years Tinordi.

Yeah but the cap exists so imo we need to get that improvement from the growth of young players we already have and then some smart and cheap guys who mesh well with the big guns we already have. Laf, Kakko and Chytil should get better. Panarin needs someone who doesn’t indulge and encourage the constant perimeter pond hockey. That guy doesn’t need to be a huge name high price player
