Dach stinks but we're here jumping through hoops to tell ourselves Kakko totally, definitely without a doubt doesn't stink.

He, like Kakko, was rushed into the league after his draft year. He also suffered a serious wrist injury that derailed him for a bit. Truth is we don't know what he is yet, again, like Kakko.

You're preaching to the choir, I dont think Kakko is anything special either. the last thing the team needs is another disappointing young player

Once Kakko gets it through his head he needs to get stronger and faster, he will become more assertive and dominant. We’ve seen what he can do with possession and with the puck. You just hope it’s this season. It has to be.

I didn't say that. I really don't know what to make of him right now.

I think he was rushed. I think he has, like many young players, shown flashes then gone completely missing.

In my book he's almost as much of an unknown as he was when he got here.

At some point in the near future they won’t have any future pieces left if they keep dealing their prospects and picks. It’s not a never ending supply

"Keep" dealing prospects and picks? We're really moaning over the 30th overall pick and Morgan Barron? They havent dealt a young asset worth a damn. Stop being scared to improve a team that went to the ECF

I’d argue that why he brings is fairly unique for this team.

I mean i like him im just not giving him a UFA contract when Cuylle Berard or Othmann should be able to fill that role on an ELC

anyone think Kadri could be convinced to chase another cup in NY for cheap? It's probably too unrealistic considering if he'd take any pay cut to play for a contender, it'd be to stay with the Avs.

Sucks honestly because Kadri as the 2C behind Zibanejad sounds f***ing amazing

I mean its not ideal but the Avs are about to lose Kadri in a similar situation, no? Hopefully we win between now and then and even so, were not at risk of losing a core piece. Chytil is what he was expected to be when he was drafted, an offensive 3rd line center who has trouble staying on the ice.

The Avs gave up Barrie and Jost for Kadri. That’s not the same as giving up Kakko for 2 years of PLD.

So glad we're getting like 80 games out of our best trade asset 25 year old first line RW Pavel Buchnevich.

The guy got his knee mangled on a dirty hit. bad luck. No use continuing to worry about ancient history. Buch would be walking in free agency now anyway

Kerfoot not Jost and I agree I would hesiate to trade Kakko for PLD. Chytil id be fine with

I did not say they are not sufficient. That is your take. I will say they are sufficient for being mediocre. If that is your goal then we have different goals. I'm looking for better replacements. Do you see many teams breaking down the door for Copp/Motte/Braun to obtain them?

I definitely do not want to sign Copp for over 5 mill nor long term.
I think its a mistake to sign Motte. I think we need a more physical player who can win faceoffs as a specialist.
I'm fine with Braun as a 7th dman.
The bolded is extremely contradictory unless mediocrity is consider “sufficient”, but to each their own.

That group just came off an ECF visit in which they were up 2-0 in the series against the reigning champs. And that after winning (2) 7 Game Series. Maybe they do have the right people and just need more time. Was this considered?

I can understand having a certain threshold with how much one is willing to pay Copp, but he is definitely a quality player. So is Motte. And guess what, they thrived here in NY. They are already used to the staff and expectations. You for some reason think its so simple to just grab someone else out of thin air and think they will adapt and adjust seamlessly. And you are taking that risk for what could be a marginal upgrade to what we know works, which is Copp and Motte.

Its silly. Motte is the type of player you win with. He plays that style. He is at a good age too. He showed us how effective he can be. Lock him up

She has the job title, access, credentials, and no one has refuted it. The better question would be what has she done to assume that her reporting is not credible?

In general the fanbase considers "credible" reporters the one who says things they want to hear and the reporters who say things you don't agree with are considered unreliable. Always goes this way.

Cuylle is 6'4 and 210+, plays LW, maybe we sign Motte to play a 3rd line LW for now and that is also a way to spend for a higher end 2C; I think Chytil goes if we end up trading for a 2C, which seems decently likely at this point

Kreider Zib Laf
Panarin 2C Kakko
Motte Stastny 3RW
Cuylle Goodrow Blais

2C could be plenty of options - PLD, Horvat, etc.
3RW could go various routes - Kravstov, Puljujarvi, Hornqvist, etc.

They haven't dealt a single good prospect lol. Morgan Barron is a nothing. The 30th overall pick has value but not that much. You'd probably be better off dealing the 30th pick every year for a rental, if you had it, than using it. There have been like five good players taken 30th overall in the last 40 years. 31st overall has basically only Markstrom. 32nd overall like...Derek Roy and Dave Bolland (who wasn't even that good/got an awful deal). These late 1sts are really not as valuable, probably are overvalued, and are better used as trade chips.

Draft stuff about Wright falling? Chicago trying to leak a fake vague Debrincat offer? Winnipeg posturing that they will happily wait till next offseason to move Dubois?

Seriously. You’d think Drury sold the farm already based on his people talk about this

Not like Vince would know, his articles are all just things we talk about here but behind a paywall
Yeah but he knows plenty of these reporters personally and has better insight when they are blowing smoke or not

Vince gets along well with the team and players and gives updates in that fashion, I don't know why so many of you think there should be a reporter gathering scoops like they work for the Times lol they'd be out of a job

It's interesting that the best teams annually seem to acquire players at the deadlines and often re-sign them. It's like they do their due diligence ahead of time and then target players they want to keep so they don't give away assets for nothing. Tampa does it ALL THE TIME. McDonagh. Callahan. Coburn. Paul. They also targeted Coleman and Goodrow who had term left. Colorado is doing it with Lehkonen. Pittsburgh did it with Carter. Washington did it with Mantha. Boston with Hall.

Why is it so much to ask that a team on the rise to not jettison multiple picks and prospects for pure rentals and that they do their due diligence on players BEFORE trading for them?
