New Dancing Larry article:
  • Strome and Copp hitting the open market on 7/13
  • Rangers may circle back to Strome on Day 2 of free agency if he is still out there
  • Would not be surprised by a trade prior to or on draft day
  • Vatrano also hitting the open market
  • Mentions all the centers we've talked about (Miller, Dubois, Scheifele, Horvat, Larkin)
  • Limited space makes it tough to make moves outside of these being rentals/ 2 year players
  • Mentions that Cuylle has a legit shot of making the team
  • Nobody knows if Dach is available
I get the feeling that unless he can get a really enticing deal that Drury will slow play the offseason and if nothing breaks his way will go with the young kids.

Its always doomsday in Larry's articles. "The Rangers need to replace 3 of their top 6 going into next season"

Yeah 2 of them were deadline rentals and Strome was being replaced regardless. we have 3 young wingers who can play in the top 6.

I think it would be a big mistake for Drury to stand pat at 2C. The team had a great season and should be building on that momentum, not taking a deliberate step back. Cant be scared to make a move

Here are some names that may be intriguing if bought out:

Petr Mrazek as a backup to Shesty
Nick Foligno as a 3rd/4th line veteran who plays a hard-nosed game
Jason Dickinson as a 4th line speedy winger/PKer
Marc Edouard Vlasic as a bottom-pairing d-man/#7
Patrick Hornqvist as a Corey Perry like 3rd/4th line veteran

Would not mind any of these players. 2 years or less. If they want 3 that is too much.

If my choices are money and term for Copp vs 2 years of PLD I take PLD all day everyday. Even if it costs Kakko.

I really don't think Copp will be worth his next contract. Loved him here but that's just the reality of it for me.

Mrazek has been a decent back. I like Hornqvist's game as well. Im hoping Zucker gets bought out, he would be an excellent bottom 6 target for us
Zucker would have a lot of teams lined up, hope he chooses a contending team over money. Sucker would fit here. Underrated player that can skate with an edge goes to the net. I prefer Frankie V but Zucker would be a good replacement

PDL with Stanley for Kakko Lundkvist Robertson get it done

Would love foligno or dickinson. Like both of them for bottom 6 roles, both hard nosed players that add to the team

Only one I don't care for is Dickinson; Mrazek is okay but I'd rather have Halak

Hornqvist would be my preferred target of all those

So, so hard to say at this stage.

Since I'm of the belief that summer 2024 will be the decision on this, it's gonna have to do both with the performance of each player over that time, as well as how Laf and Schneider progress.

I agree, although looking forward, I see a LOT more options on the wing than I do on defense., Especially if Lundkvist is traded.

I'd push pretty hard for Hornqvist not only because he plays a hard nosed game, but he could also be a really good option on PP2 net front which the team needs. Sell him on a Corey Perry-like role here and sign him for 2 years at a low cap hit.

Not really doomsday, he’s not wrong that 3 of the top 6 wont be back.

I'd just really like to have some more vets that can play up in the lineup in a pinch without the offense of the line dying on his stick (Hunt, etc.)

Why would Dach be available?

He hasn't done well in Chicago. Chicago is in such a bad place through and through they may just throw out the baby with the bathwater along with the whole bath tub in Toews and Kane.
