- Friedman says watch St. Louis for McD.
- Industry belief is that there is a "path to a deal" for both Forsberg and Letang to stay in their current spots. Forsberg rumor is 8X8.5.
- Pitt/Malkin not close.
- Flames have made Johnny G an offer, around 8X9.5.
- Doesn't know how NYR can qualify Geo. Marek still says he thinks its a player+pick for him.
- Sharks GM - Whitney, Grier, maybe Scott Mellanby. Coaches around the league are pissed at SJ for firing BB and his staff so late in the game.
- Watch Jack Campbell in Edmonton.

Malkin is enticing for NYR if he takes a 2 year deal

Staple reported Edmonton is interested in acquiring Georgiev's rights but they want to send the Rangers a mid-size contract in return and the Rangers don't want that.

Edmonton has a few mid-size contracts. Kassian. 2 years. $3.2M AAV. No. Foegele. 2 years. $2.75M. No. Ryan. 1 year. $1.25M. No. Ceci. 3 years. $3.25M AAV. No.

Ryan McLeod would work.
I proposed Georgiev and Robertson for McLeod earlier in the year. with the depth Rangers have they can move Robertson. McLeod is underrated

Given that we are trying to scrape by until we can get out from the bad Trouba and Kreider deals, that makes sense, but you also can't pay high end assets like Lundkvist for the privilege of those rentals.

Just sign Stastny or Malkin and go.
You think paying 6.5 million for a guy who scored 52 goals and is an obvious leader is a bad contract? Not to mention 10 goals and 16 points in 20 playoff games. A UFA coming off that year would get 9 mil per.

Everyone see this news about Flyers goalie prospect Fedotov being detained and potentially forced to enroll in the military? He was planning to come to the NHL this summer.

If I’m not mistaken, Panarin said he was back to Russia for the summer. Not sure on Igor or Kravtsov’s current status.

Definitely a little worried…

no wonder Kravy signed
Dolan wants playoff revenue.
can you blame him...its an asset in his portfolio...rough estimate with tv money and gate etc...50 to 75 million this playoffs...who cares about a 1st rd pick for Copp.

It's not the AAV that's bad about it.

We can't move out more than like one of our high end defenders and it needs to be for a center.

The problem is that he hasn't cemented himself thus and may never will, true. I don't think it's a guarantee but I've long suggested he might be better on the wring.

Panarin Zibanejad Kakko
Lafreniere ________ Kravtsov
Othmann ________ Chytil

Just get me two young centers.

Lundkvist can get you one. Wish I could trade Kreider.

Keep dreaming on a Kreider trade, he is likely ending his career here (probably on LTIR).

We've gone back and forth on this, but they are very obviously not committing to the youth like you want them to. At least 2 of Kakko/Kravtsov/Chytil are most likely gone by next summer even without a long term commitment at 2C.

Better hope Shesty wins another Vezina and CK scores another 50 because our skaters will be as average as the guys you want to sign. Looks like Edmonton is giving up on Puljujarvi. Market is reportedly a 3rd round pick. Hope we are not in a similar situation with KK soon. KK really needs to step up huge going in to his 4th season.
Don’t have to hope for anything to happen because your take on Copp/Motte/Braun/4th liner as not being sufficient is a brutal one.

Why not? Most contenders make player+prospect+pick trades when their window is open. We dont have enough spots for these prospects anyway.
I get that he’s young and has solid upside, but I don’t particularly like him as a player. Nor will I like the cost of acquiring him.

In a right deal I wouldn’t mind seeing Chytil, Nils, Jones or Robertson moved. But when you start talking about Kakko or Schneider, hard pass.

UFA's want term. That's just the way it is. There is no reason to think that Kreider at this point can't continue to produce. He is the best net front presence in the game on the PP and with the leagues crackdown on cross checking he will likely continue to produce.

LeBrun has a new article for The Athletic.

Gaudreau has been sitting on the Flames offer for almost one month. The Flames need an answer.

$8M-$9M for Kadri.

Seattle may make an offer for DeBrincat. Apparently, Seattle wanted Fiala.

If Johnny Hockey leaves, Calgary is going to have a Dubois situation on their hands with Matt Tkachuk

He supposedly passed on a 3 year deal keeping him in Pittsburgh. Why would he sign he for less term? Not that we can even afford him. Plus, he’s not what we want or need at 2C.

He looked like ass in the playoffs. He’s always injured. And he’ll be 36 to start the season.

Malkin is anything but enticing.

Don't worry. There is zero chance he is coming here.

I did not say they are not sufficient. That is your take. I will say they are sufficient for being mediocre. If that is your goal then we have different goals. I'm looking for better replacements. Do you see many teams breaking down the door for Copp/Motte/Braun to obtain them?

I definitely do not want to sign Copp for over 5 mill nor long term.
I think its a mistake to sign Motte. I think we need a more physical player who can win faceoffs as a specialist.
I'm fine with Braun as a 7th dman.

You can't always add major pieces to make your team better each offseason.

Part of the logic of a young team coming off a rebuild is that many of your existing players get better from season to season. Miller, Schneider, Chytil, Laf, Kakko. Reinforcements coming in the form of Jones, Othmann, maybe Cuylle and Robertson.

You hope they progress faster than the veterans decline.

I'm not convinced trying to hammer a final big piece into this roster is the right move at all. Like it or not we have our veteran core and they'll all be here until summer of 2024 at the earliest.

Shop for bargains, no big game hunting.
