If a club were to call about Ryan Strome or Pavel Buchnevich, Gorton would certainly listen and might be able to lay some groundwork for potential summer trades. The same would hold true if a club came sniffing around Mika Zibanejad. But the best information is that the Rangers have not been receiving those inquiries.
Unless something materializes overnight, the defenseman will remain on the outside looking in until at least the summer when, if he is not selected by Seattle in the expansion draft, DeAngelo would face a buyout that would put him on the open market.
I think he’s terrific. Very decisive and smart. Gif combination.Jarmo coming out of the deadline looking great
Seems insane to me that people would consider trading Buch. The Rangers can't just collect picks and prospects forever. Buch is one of our best and most consistent players. I'd rather move Kreider before him.
Don’t let gordie get wind of that.I told u guys earlier this draft is absolutely garbage. No one is afraid to give up late firsts right now.
the top guys in the draft barely project as middle six middle pair dmen. The goalie is the best kid in the whole thing.
I agree though. On a better contract, Smith is an ideal 6-7D. He came into camp in poor condition after netting the big deal but since then he has been nothing but game. I’d bring him back next year as the “vet d” for sure.Seems insane to me that people would consider trading Buch. The Rangers can't just collect picks and prospects forever. Everyone would. He’s not movable right now. That’s the problem.Seems insane to me that people would consider trading Buch. The Rangers can't just collect picks and prospects forever. Buch is one of our best and most consistent players. I'd rather move Kreider before him.
Bobby Margs from the top rope.
I mean Gorton hasn't done much lately. The offseason consisted of signing Jack Johnson, Kevin Rooney and Colin Blackwell, and trading Marc Staal and buying out Henrik. And since then, we've traded Lemieux.
Not exactly moves that move the needle...
Not really. Pageau would have been a very good roster fit here. Would have solved the center issue at a good price. Does good a lot of the things the Rangers are bad at, especially last season. Why would it have been a bad move? Certainly is working out for the Islanders
So would many of us would as well but I would say there would be 1/10th of the teams interested in Kreider as there are in Buch. Since Kreider wasn't traded gotta think one of Strome or Buch have to go.Seems insane to me that people would consider trading Buch. The Rangers can't just collect picks and prospects forever. Agreed and doubt someone is gonna overpay for him. So best off just keeping him. Just next year I don't want him blocking a VK,AL,KK etc from getting pp time.Trading Blackwell, who's pacing like 27 goals for less than a million for a whopping mid round pick seems epically stupid.
Sometimes you should just keep your found money.
Blackwell at worst is a great spare. I like him and Smith as spares next season. They can fill in nicely in case of any injury. Gotta figure that’s like 50-60 games minimum. There’s always someone out with something. Or players underperforming who need a break.Agreed and doubt someone is gonna overpay for him. So best off just keeping him.
