A 1st, 3rd and 4th for Savard and Lashoff seems steep to me.

Its a heavy price, but most of their core is 28+ with Stamkos and Hedman both into their 30's. With that squad I would sacrifice the future for a good chance for another cup or 2 myself. Maybe in 3 years their team is old, slow and bad, then its time again to start stockpiling youth.

What is Gauthier’s future on this team?

panarin, buch, laf, Kreider, Kakko, Kravtsov

Is Buch is traded I guess? No part of me thinks “oh well we can plug in Gauthier if we trade Buch” though.

He’s an ok player who was worth a shot. But unless he develops into a solid 4th, PL style player he’s gonna find himself out of a job on good teams.

I like what I see from Gauthier ...its basically between him and Buch. Vitaly willl be along with K2 the top 2 RW. I mean do you trade Buch for a 1st rder in the 20's ? Not me...American Buch is what we are waiting for and he has arrived. Gauthier along with excess LD are assets that become ammo in any trade for a C.

With all our mid round picks I hope Gorts scouted a player or 2 available from last nights NCAA championship

None of the players from last night's game are draft eligible. Miettinen (St. Cloud player who hit the cross bar early in the game) is the only player of appropriate age, but he was drafted by Toronto in the 6th round last year.

Trivigno (UMass junior who won the tournament MVP) is reportedly going to attend our development camp this summer. Maybe he goes back for another year with Jones and then signs with us after he graduates.

Small price to pay while most of the winning cup team is intact. Last year before Coleman and goodrow price themselves out. And savard is a shut down savage in the playoffs. If they’re not the cup favorite now, they should be

They go all-in, giving up a pick that would, best case scenario, give them a prospect that is 2 years away from making an impact.

Tampa is the definition of "Win now"

It's early, but at what point do we put the potential of Jones leaving UFA on the radar? Committing to his junior year, potential log jam on defense. Basically the Fox in Calgary situation (minus the rumors of team near his home).

One year beyond his commitment and he can pick his spot and maybe dictate his situation. Again, its too early but if you have a bunch of prospects and maybe look to trade for center help do you hedge on Jones?

Not a bad problem to have, IMO. On the top end, either we get mini-Fox 2.0 or 2 second rounders for a 3rd rounder that we may not have room for? I’ll take that every day.

Don't want to get anybody in trouble. If this can't be answered, fine, but who on this thread is supposedly connected to well-placed sources again? I have no clue honestly.

I'm not going to announce their names but there are a handful of people on this board with connections.

My connections dried up. I used to know one person on the greater medical staff and one person in the arena crew from around 2006-2011. That's how I got the Lundqvist info way back in the day about monitoring his condition and also later about how Del Zotto was immature and Dubinsky was a %%#@.

I'd also know people around the bar scene in Westchester/Rockland by dating people and my old part-time job and I'd here some stories like the one about Ted Green thinking Lindros was arrogant.

Amazing Kreiderman covered this. He wants to join play here but it will probably be after next season.

its tough to see a spot for Gauthier but I would still keep him over Howden

Rooney and Blackwell have been great but I’d still expose them since they are older

Gauthier is the type of player that could break out with an expansion team

Jones' rights don't expire until August 15th, 2023.

Is there any possibility that Gorton could trade Zibanejad for an overpayment? Suzuki +first +? And use that overpayment pluss something more to get Eichel.

Edit: of course Bergevin would go for Eichel if he was desperate. Bad idea on my part...

Zibanejad is not getting dealt in the middle of a playoff race for futures. The Rangers have plenty of currency and are getting to the point of not enough contract spots available for all the futures.

Any chance Calgary bites on TDA for Ryan ?

I really think Detroit should get him though

no one likely will though

The NHL has done its job by making people think we’re still in the playoff hunt. Barring a complete meltdown from the bruins, we’re not getting in. If they go .500 we pretty much can’t lose a game.

Hell, we’ve been shitting on the Flyers for weeks and talking about how bad they are and we haven’t even passed them yet.

Rangers are playing the right teams but at the wrong time. Six games left against Devils and Sabres but after the deadline. Rangers basically would need to win those games out to have a chance. Doing nothing at deadline is dumb. If they think they can make the playoffs they need to buy. I thought they should have went for Pageau last year, but I don’t think they are as well positioned. Would still be sellers but expansion draft is going to throw a wrench in
