The Rangers have a lot of currency. Not really for this deadline but just in general going forward. Not all these young players are gonna be on this team. There’s only 6 available Dman spots a game and at least 3 are completely spoken for in the near future, or really more like 4. Will be interesting to see what the team does going forward.

Regarding UFA’s this summer, what’s the deal with Alex Edler? Is he cooked? I’d imagine that Pearson extension means he’s going UFA.

I could see him being a good partner for Nils, if he’s not traded.

I'd look into Barclay Goodrow (C, LW PK) if he'd sign cheap enough. (coming off 925K)

LD Hajek is not great but he is signed and not expensive, the upgrade there will cost more for a player that either takes time from Miller, or plays below him. Reunanen, Robertson also should get some consideration for that spot.

Like are they demoting Miller to 3rd LD, or are they paying more for a 3rd LD which they already kind of have to play below Miller?

I concur with Bobbop and Edge. Nothing big in the works that I have heard. But things can always change fast. Maybe an upgrade on 3D for expansion purposes and maybe 1-2 excess forward(s) are dealt. Or they will wait until the off-season. Which will likely provide some activity.

What is 2 goal Taylor Hall really returning at this point? Islanders still have picks in rounds 2-7 this year, and 3 picks in the first 2 rounds next year, if they want him, they can get it done.

IIRC Goodrow is great on the PK and draw. Tampa gave up a 1st pick to get him which totally floored me but they won the cup so I guess they get the last laugh. I would totally welcome Goodrow but we'd have to make space trading Howden, Blackwell, Rooney, et al. Morgan Barron should be in steep competition to make the team next year.

I can’t see much happening. Teams will wait for franchise changing moves until the off-season and the Rangers have no high end UFA’s to sell off for a change. I could see a bottom defenseman like Smith/Hajek or a bottom forward like Howden or PDG moved for a mid pick.

It would be nice if ADA could get a shot somewhere, but he’s still a risk to take for someone and there’s no incentive for NYR to take on a bad contract. Would they be able to agree with a team on percentage of retaining for an expiring contract? It sounds like it’d prob be too complicated but stranger things have happened.

I doubt it. What’s our big piece? Buchnevich maybe? And they are going all in and giving up the farm... so he can quarantine for 2 weeks...?

Is there any possibility that Gorton could trade Zibanejad for an overpayment? Suzuki +first +? And use that overpayment pluss something more to get Eichel.

No need to overthink it. Losing one of Blackwell/Howden/Gauthier is minimal in the grand scheme of things.

Gauthier is the logical choice to protect but they're gonna probably go with Howden SMFH.

I would seriously throw things.
