That unit is plain bad on top of not getting much time. The PP is worked on in practice, so I can't see any real reason for the second unit to be this bad outside of coaching.
Having no ability to win faceoffs doesn't help either. I'm just saying its hard to get any kind of production when you basically have 15-20 seconds of real pp time to work with

Yea it's accurate. If you look at his game log you can see how it's dropped off.

First 18 games averages - 2.8 PP shift / game, ~2:06 min PP TOI / game, ~44 sec / PP shift
Last 18 games averages - 1.6 PP shift / game, ~1:06 min PP TOI / game, ~42 sec / PP shift

Basically just showing he was taken off PP2 at the end of March.
Hmm. Interesting. Doesn’t feel close to that but the data is the data.

He's told this 4th line lie now twice about two players and backtracked it less than 72 hours later in each instance.

I'd rather he just not disclose why a player is scratched rather than make up stuff and look like an asshole two days later. Just say you think Gauthier deserved to be scratched and that you didn't think the time was right to insert Kravtsov. Easy

Hmm. Interesting. Doesn’t feel close to that but the data is the data.

And if you're curious here's the rest of the forwards. There's some noise in the data though...the "Opps" for Rooney and DiGiuseppe have to be shifts for them that started when there was still a little time left on the PP clock (<10 sec) but the PP was for all intents and purposes over so the NYR changed lines.

Yea, it's simple.

The coach needs to win games to keep his job and eventually get a new job. Lafreniere has 0 points and 1 shot in 53 minutes on the PP. Thus, as much as we want to see him there, he is playing guys who are currently better. In terms of K'Andre Miller it is likely because PP1 is going to start and get the majority of PP time so by the time PP2 comes on he wants an extra dman on the ice because they will probably be on the ice when the PP expires. The logic for Blackwell is just as easy. If he's not on there then every forward on PP2 is a lefty.

It's pretty easy to understand the logic if you take a second to think about it instead of just complaining that it's not how you want it.

Why isn't Blackwell in the crease, playing in the same spot Kreider plays in? Kreider is the lone lefty on his unit.
Why isn't Blackwell on the first unit? His PPG/60 leads the team?
Why doesn't Fox play both units if you need a defenseman?
Why not Brendan Smith instead of K'Andre? 3 goals and 11 assists on the PP in his career to Miller's 0 and 0.

GMJG needs to get busy and scout these boards tonight... for some inspiration!
Here ya go...

TRADE #1
TO NYR: Bennett, Sam
TO CGY: Howden, Brett + 2021 3rd round pick (NYR)

TRADE #2 + 3
TO NYR: Kara, Vladislav [Unsigned on the reserve List] + 2021 4th round pick (TOR) + 2021 7th round pick (TOR)
TO TOR: Di Giuseppe
, Phillip + Smith, Brendan ($2,100,000 retained)

TRADE #4
TO NYR: Borgström, Henrik [Unsigned on the reserve List] + 2021 6th round pick (FLA)
TO FLA: Deangelo, Anthony (if we were to retain ~$1 M then we could likely also upgrade the pick somewhat)

TRADE #5
TO NYR: Soucy, Carson
TO MIN: Hájek, Libor + 2021 3rd round pick (NYR) + 2021 4th round pick (TOR)

Callups 2021: Tarmo Reuanen, Tony Bitetto, Morgan Barron

Expansion draft fwds to expose: Blackwell, Goat, Rooney
Expansion draft D to expose: Bitetto
Expansion draft G to expose: Kinkaid

Seattle chooses the Useful Utility Man Blackbeard in the Expansion Draft

Sign RFAs: Buchnevich, Bennett, Chytil, Gauthier, Lindgren, Shesterkin
Sign ELCs: Lundkvist, Pajuniemi, Edström??

Thereafter, things will get interesting...

Oh well

Because 5'9 waterbugs don't play at the top of the crease on the PP.
Good question! Probably should.
Fox probably doesn't have stamina for 2+ minute shifts. That's something inherent in you, not a skill.
Brendan Smith would get the haters mad, I approve. You win that one.

AV was a schmuck who constantly tried to prove he was the smartest guy in the room.

Quinn is just an out of his depth schlub that coaches like a big chicken shit.

AV was easily more hatable.
To each their own. At least AVs teams won most of the time so you couldn’t say shit. This guy acts like he’s gods gift, but doesn’t have the records to back it up. f*** this guy in the ass with a Duku angled light saber

He keeps KZB together so he can match them against Crosby....

He puts Blackwell with Panarin because he has no clue what else to do.

He is not in control. There's no structure. He's out of touch. Our offensive gameplan and PP have been shit all season.

Lets see what adjustments were made since last series against Pittsburgh; where we looked horribly out-coached and outmatched

I mean, just trying to follow since the logic is so simple and I'm too obstinate to follow.

Blackwell is on PP2 because of his handedness. (Because while the first unit only needs 1 lefty with 4 righties, the second unit needs 2 lefties with 3 righties.)
He's also there because he drastically outproduces Lafreniere. (But despite his team high scoring rates, is not on the first unit.)
Morevoer, K'Andre is there to be a second defensemen. (But Brendan Smith has proven to be more effective on the PP than him in the same way Blackwell has proven to be better than Lafreniere.)

is suppression of offense out of the likes of Kakko and Lafreniere a tactic to get their cap lower when it is time to re-sign them? Is it something GMs consider doing?

Kakko plays with Panarin for like 6 straight games, gets moved down for one game tomorrow, and everyone loses their mind lol. Remind me again who Zegras is playing with (Oh, Sam Carrick and Max Jones), or who Jack Hughes is playing with (Ah, Yegor Sharangovich and Janne Kuokkanen), what about Kirby Dach (hey, he was with Pat Kane last game!), what about Tim Stuzle (Chris Tierney and Drake Batherson). It's not a big deal. Since when did development mean "force feed your young players 16+ minutes on top lines and top PP no matter what?"
Who’s saying to do that? Kakko has been playing well on that line. Why move him when he’s getting something going? And in doing that, set up the top 6 so that not a single young forward gets to ride with any skilled vets.

5% of me wants one of the big three (Laf, Kakko, Kravtsov) to demand a trade, in hopes of systemic changes in how the Rangers develop skilled forwards.

The way Quinn talks about and is searching for a Jesper Fast replacement, you’d think Fast was a generational player

hey Quinn, there’s more than one way for a line to succeed. You don’t always need to play a 4th line player with Panarin and Strome to succeed you schmuck

His system is dependent on it.

never thought I would say this it would be amazing to have Gauthier Kakko Lafreniere Kravtsov all getting big minutes in Hartford but I know that can’t happen for several reasons.
This way he can play the The howdens the blackwells to his hearts content. then reload in October
What did Gauthier do you get scratched?? If I’m this kid and the rest of the season goes like this for him, he should pull a Lemieux and ask for a trade. Just by watching, he’s improved his game offensively and defensively

Fast did a lot of unheralded things on the ice that helps teams win. Most of the time people won’t notice because he won’t show up on the scoresheet or get an assist for paying the price to get the puck deep or set up a play. I was honestly shocked they didn’t give him the third year. He is the exact type of guy you want your young guys learning from and practicing with. And no Blackwell is not the same. He may be a better finisher but that it IMO
