never thought I would say this it would be amazing to have Gauthier Kakko Lafreniere Kravtsov all getting big minutes in Hartford but I know that can’t happen for several reasons.
This way he can play the The howdens the blackwells to his hearts content. then reload in October
You're probably not wrong but the idea of having to take prospects away from the coach we hired for development just greys my hair.

Well at least Kravtsov is unofficially On the third line lol.
Chytil now our 4th line center. Next year will be no different if this coach is here

Ok Quinny if this is the way we are gonna do it make sure you win both games vs pitt. Because putting our best young players on the 4th line and not winning at same time is all on the coach

He's just making bullshit up as he goes along.

Why not just be honest and give the real reasons why you are doing the things you are doing?
I don't think he has a real reason beyond some "young guy; has to go through the ringer" reflex.

Kakko plays with Panarin for like 6 straight games, gets moved down for one game tomorrow, and everyone loses their mind lol. Remind me again who Zegras is playing with (Oh, Sam Carrick and Max Jones), or who Jack Hughes is playing with (Ah, Yegor Sharangovich and Janne Kuokkanen), what about Kirby Dach (hey, he was with Pat Kane last game!), what about Tim Stuzle (Chris Tierney and Drake Batherson). It's not a big deal. Since when did development mean "force feed your young players 16+ minutes on top lines and top PP no matter what?"
Well jack hughes played 25 min last night lol and Stützle regularly plays around 19. Dach plays over 20

but when it comes to development , lines and toi are not everything

LOL at David Quinn pinning his NHL coaching future on Colin Blackwell.

Let’s see the defense of this bullshit from Quinn today? Who wants to be first?

kravtsov on the 4th line? Great game from kakko he gets demoted? First line stays the same garbage that’s it’s been? Gauthier pressboxed after one of his best games? Who gives a shit about Colin Blackwell?!

this is a development coach? We’re not sniffing the playoffs and this is what he’s doing?

I’m honestly floored by these lines and looking forward to reading the next two pages. Hopefully there’s a discussion rather than emotions (which I suspect is not going to be the case).

The thing is, I wish everyone would take a deep breath with the lines for a minute and realize the bigger picture.

When was the last time NYR had a forward lineup with 5 really young, very talented, first rounders. That's a lot for any coach to balance. Chytil, Kravtsov, Kakko, Laf and Gauthier. That's just about half of the entire forward corps. With none of them playing special teams it's nearly impossible for all of them to get enough ice in a given game. That's a GREAT problem to have. And don't look now, but it's very possible that our D will have this problem next season.

its a great problem to have, but to have none of them in the top 6 is exactly why we're furious.

Are things gonna change next year?
It’s probably gonna be the same forward lineup.
Is kakko and laf gonna get zero relevant pp time? Is Gauthier never gonna be given a real chance?
Where does Kravtsov fit? He’s not gonna get pp time where he did well with traktor.

I can think of at least one way to fix this.

He’s looked vanilla and mediocre. As mediocre can be.
He looks like the same player he has been, the difference is Jonny hockey isn't playing uber elite and feeding him the way he did in the good seasons. Monahan's numbers with and wo JG are a stark difference, so clearly JG and the quality of hockey JG is playing is a major influencer on Monahan's production. For all the shit Strome takes, he proved this year he can produce even while Panarin isn't stapled to his side. At this point I much prefer Strome to Monahan...

There are no words in the dictionary that exist to describe the hate I have for that man. I never hated AV anywhere close to as much as this guy.

Quinn: “Kravtsov not a 4th line type player”

next game: Kravtsov on 4th line.
Yes, he is ruining some of our most valuable prospects. Yes, he is a bad coach and deserves to be fired.

They also have a -25 goal differential and we are +18. That's not that meaningful of a stat, but it does at least say something about what the coach is trying to instill in the team's culture.

If the Rangers wanted to hire a coach to chase the playoffs, they could have hired Trotz (for example). Just saying. Same off season.

Instead we lock in on Quinn, (including after being turned down by him at first) to be a development coach, and we get a guy who is leaving much to be desired in that department. He’s a college coach who treats players like college players.

These are practice lines, not game lines. And even if he ends up on the 4th line, he'll probably get roughly the same minutes regardless.

You guys overreact to everything.

Yes Kravtsov will get a few more minutes than the third line which is actually now the 4th line. He won’t get pp time so in the end if he should get 9-11 min. Great
