Kakko plays with Panarin for like 6 straight games, gets moved down for one game tomorrow, and everyone loses their mind lol. Remind me again who Zegras is playing with (Oh, Sam Carrick and Max Jones), or who Jack Hughes is playing with (Ah, Yegor Sharangovich and Janne Kuokkanen), what about Kirby Dach (hey, he was with Pat Kane last game!), what about Tim Stuzle (Chris Tierney and Drake Batherson). It's not a big deal. Since when did development mean "force feed your young players 16+ minutes on top lines and top PP no matter what?"

No one said it is, but Blackwell hasn’t played better than Kakko this season. Kakko is one of our better players even if his goal numbers aren’t that high, his metrics + eye test both show he’s looking like the 2nd overall pick we expected.
You wanna move him down if he makes terrible defensive plays in a game and costs us a goal. Absolutely do it. But in a game where it was the Mika line who was struggling, and Kakko was fine? What’s that say to the kids?

Phew. Enough with having guys who don't score in the top six. Now we have our four highest scoring wings on the top two lines. Finally, something Quinn is doing right. With our best players in the top six and with how Quinn likes to ride the top lines we should be in pretty good shape to put up some offense tomorrow.
I don’t know how many ways this can be said. This season is over. They are not making the playoffs. The only thing that matters is that the kids who aren’t scoring this year do so next year. The coach, or management at this point, needs to be doing everything in his power to make sure that happens.

A win against Pittsburgh in which Blackwell scores the GWG and gets 18+ minutes of ice time does not help this team win a Cup in the next few years.

Demoting Kakko after a failed SO attempt which itself followed him not touching the ice in OT despite looking like the team’s best forward is not a confidence building move. Kakko’s confidence, like it or not, is much more critical to the ultimate success of this team than a late season potential win over Pittsburgh.

Zegras mostly plays with Troy Terry and Adam Henrique, and he was on a line with Getzlaf before last game before he got injured. He also gets Top PP mins, even though the Ducks rarely get a PP, so that's not saying much when it comes to ice time, lol. Ducks are playing their kids more, but two factors weigh into that, 1/3 the team is injured including Rakell and Getzlaf, and the Ducks have nothing to lose, playoffs are not happening.

I get Blackwell being inserted into the Top 6 that line has worked well, but think Kakko should replace maybe one of the wingers on the KZB line. Quinn has demoted Buch and Kreider before, and both have not been playing too well the last few games. The only issue is I don't think Kakko and Mika have gelled very well, so that could be a factor as well.

The problem is that the kid line hasn't gotten any minutes since Quinn has started this "playoff push". Now if he wants to balance that third line a bit to start giving them more minutes then I'm all for it.

I prefer Kakko with Chytil regardless. To me Laf has always been the weakest link on that line. But once he figures out that he has to go 100% the whole shift, he will work well with them.

I think Kravtsov belongs with Panarin and Strome. I think that's as natural a fit as I can think of. But I bet Quinn doesn't have the stones to try it.

Our 4th line is just mediocre no matter what because we don't have a legit 4th line center.

Hughes is playing with those guys now. He was with Palmieri the entire season with PP1 duties. The reason he is playing with 17 and 59 is because along with Zajac, they were on the Debbies best line. He was moved to try and get him going and get him some points. Was KK moved to the 3rd line which plays 9 minutes a night to develop him or in the mind of a desperate coach, to try and win at all costs?

Rules for some, but not for everyone.

I don't disagree with you. That said, at the beginning of the year when Kakko and Chytil were together, they formed our best line and the third line's minutes increased. If Quinn is trying to create a 3rd line that he can play similar minutes to top 6, I'm all for it. I don't love Kakko with Panarin and Strome because I don't think it utilizes his strengths enough. Kakko is a monster in the corners and at causing turnovers. His game meshes really well with Chytil. If anything I want to see a Kakko, Kravtsov Chytil line as I think the 3 together would be a difficult 3rd line for teams to match up against. The cycle with those three would be tremendous.

That #2PP, yikes...

honestly not worth it anymore let this coach do whatever he wants. If he’s here next year then we can really start worrying.
Lafreniere not even sniffing pp time is a damn joke. I don’t give a crap if he’s been only ok. This is the first and last first overall we will ever get. And Kakko getting demoted that’s another great job.
And of course Gauthier will sit when he’s the only one who had any kind of desire to get to the net the other night

It's not even worth getting upset about anymore.

Just hope the damage is limited before we send this clown back to amateur hour.

never thought I would say this it would be amazing to have Gauthier Kakko Lafreniere Kravtsov all getting big minutes in Hartford but I know that can’t happen for several reasons.
This way he can play the The howdens the blackwells to his hearts content. then reload in October

Hughes gets top 6 minutes with the Devils but he’s got 17 points in 36 games and wins 35% of his face-offs. It’s not anything fantastic. The Devils top point producer Zacha has 20 points. That team does not have a lot of real depth or top end talent.

With new guys like Kravtsov I think it’s best to give them a few games to get their shit together. He played pretty well in his first game but it’s pretty early to say how he fits in.

I really don’t get all the Blackwell hate. He’s a little guy finally getting a real shot and he’s played hard and he’s knocked in a bunch of goals. Would I move him up to replace Kakko? No—but it’s not like it’s Blackwell’s fault.
