This is obviously off topic but do any of you know the answer to the following question? Guys, I’m going to the game Thursday and was wondering from some of the vets where it’s best to go after the game to meet the players on the street? Is it outside MSG near the main entrance? Or is it near the garage?

may not be the best thing to be doing right now. Contact with fans is likely not high on the list of things players want to be doing.

I say they should put Fox, Panarin, and Zibanejad on the 2nd PP unit. We’d have the best 2nd PP unit in the league. I’d even use them to start the PP.
Lol, guilty as charged putting up this ridiculous proposal, but I was just trying to play along with Larry, whoever he is on this board, figuring out how to fix PP2. In reality the fix is what Quinn is doing by giving all the PP time to the first unit that is functional (while the second unit is not).

How many more games until it’s clear we’re not making the playoffs? Five or six? Assuming we don’t go on a bitchin’ win streak I expect the kids to start getting lots of p-t after the deadline.

Here’s how I look at the rest of the season:

Boston will continue to have two games in hand even after the Rangers played out their last regular season games, the last two happens to be against Boston. So what I want the Rangers to strive for is to have a mathematical chance (however slim) going into these last 2 games, i.e. within 4 actual points before playing these last games against the Bruins.

P.S. Edited.

To be honest, part of me wants a quick resolution: a streak either way. Win streak and go for it. Losing streak and do one last deadline sell-off. On the other hand, starting close, as you suggest, up until the end of the season, is probably best for player development. Even if they fall short in the end.

I don’t think a win streak at this point in and of itself will produce a playoff birth. Not when you lose to Buffalo when the team you’re chasing wins.

I don’t think “selloff” is possible one way or the other. Smith is likely to be traded either way too and then there’s nothing that other teams would be seeking (that they don’t have already).

Free up cap space to re-sign our RFAs this offseason. Trade Strome in a Hayes-like deal; trade Smith and shop Buch.

We have nearly $9mil just from the change in the cap hits from the Shattenkirk and Lundqvist buyouts, plus $4.35mil from Smith's contract expiring, and not much in the way of RFAs.

RFAs requiring large raises:
Buchnevich (if not traded)
Shesterkin (age makes a bridge deal unlikely)
Lindgren (may get a bridge deal)

RFAs requiring minimal raises:
Chytil
Howden (if not taken in expansion draft)
Gauthier
Hajek

We could also look into extending Fox long-term, but that would not take effect until after next season.

Buchnevich is the only one that may be a problem down the road, which is why he may be traded. The big decisions will come after next season when both Zibanejad and Strome are UFAs, and Fox and Kakko are RFAs.

Do people here still actually think that this team can make the playoffs? It ain’t happening fellas.
And we shouldn't want it to happen. I prioritize the higher pick over any experience our kids will get in a blowout loss in the first round. Next year it begins; wait for it.

There is no need to free up cap space for the RFAs. The Rangers currently have $29MM in cap space and will be at almost $33.5MM when they buyout ADA in the summer.

Thats total cap space is with 13 players signed (Panarin, Zib, Kreider, Strome, Kakko, Laff, Kravstov, Rooney, Blackwell, Trouba, Fox, Miller, Geo) and a need to resign Buch, Chytil, GOAT, Howden, Lindgren, Hajek and Shesh.

I disagree, but it is what it is at this point. A 1 and 2OA and we’re off to the races in my opinion. I entertain training this year’s first for a player more likely to fit the winning timeline.

But yeah, this hill is way to steep to climb.

It's kinda fun watching your team grow and not caring about making the playoffs (me, not the team). Super excited for the future.

Don’t. Not the right time and if you’re a good fan you won’t take the risk of having anyone hit the protocol list because of your interaction.

This was true 2 years ago, not so much anymore.

We've gotten to the point where we have enough young players and prospects and will be adding even more in the coming months. I'd rather these kids play in and get that experience at this point, though with Quinn that would likely mean 6 minutes in a playoff game for some of them.

I wouldn't be upset if they get spanked by Pitt this week so they can stop kidding themselves about making a run and start to delegate more responsibility to the non vets on the team. Their development is more important than riding the vets for a chance to get smoked in the first round, not so much the higher draft pick which I'm not even confident they'll be keeping at this point.

Let’s see the defense of this bullshit from Quinn today? Who wants to be first?

kravtsov on the 4th line? Great game from kakko he gets demoted? First line stays the same garbage that’s it’s been? Gauthier pressboxed after one of his best games? Who gives a shit about Colin Blackwell?!

this is a development coach? We’re not sniffing the playoffs and this is what he’s doing?
