So thinking about this off-season, I’ve been pretty vocal about acquiring a couple of veterans to help steady the group. One name I’ll have on my shopping list is Scott Laughton from the Flyers. Jack of all trade forward, can play up and down the lineup, Wins face offs and is a good penalty killer. Won’t break the bank.

Playing with Panarin has revitalized Strome's career, in that he's become a solidified and good middle6 playmaking center.

Strome is going to want AT LEAST $7M per. He will get it too, I can easily see a 7x7 deal as a UFA. We saw what Kevin Hayes got... even with a 'depressed' market, what does that mean for Strome? He's outpacing Hayes' production by a sizeable margin.

Unfortunately, that's too much for what he provides. Stylistically, we have too many of those players. If he was a goal scoring and/or selke-type center, it would be a different story imo. He will not be playing the right wall long term on PP1. We have Laf, Kakko and Kravtsov. So, he should not be paid as such.

Strome 50% at the TDL for a great middle6 Center Prospect. It makes it easier too, if they are confident Barron can be a solid middle6 NHL center.
f*** Strome, sign RNH for 7 mil in the offseason

Completely agreed.

He’s been mentioned before by others, but Adam Lowry should be high on the list too.

This was discussed more than a few pages back but the only way a trade for Eichel makes sense is if Gorton knows for a fact that a trade of Zibanejad returns a good young upcoming center +. So something like:

Chytil + Kravtsov + Howden + 1st for Eichel

Zibanejad for Glass + Reaves + Holden

This would undoubtedly lead to Buch and Strome being traded for cap reasons more than likely.

long term this leaves the center depth as something like:
Eichel
Glass
______/Barron
______/Barron

It’s a seismic shift for sure

The sheer outrage and frustration on that dude’s face during the 8-3 thrashing is something I won’t forget for a long time.

Well, he isn't wrong that the kids need more time, but the entitlement thing is a weird angle. Is the FO trying to somehow shame the players here by hinting at Brooks whats going on?

For the longer the first unit stays on, the more the returns diminish. Of the first unit’s 22 power-play goals, six were scored within the first 16 seconds of an advantage, 10 within the first 36 seconds, 18 within the first 59 seconds and 20 within the first 1:06.
That means two power-play goals over 36 games in the final 54 seconds of a power play.

That means when it’s time to change, the first unit needs to change. Come on, already.

SPLIT UP THE POWERPLAYS AND PLAY BOTH UNITS.

Love how people love or hate Larry based on whether his bus stop beat up brain spits something out they agree with that day. Most days everyone dismisses him, the one day he's proving someone right with his purely click bait article he's a genius!!

hes spot on

but those guys don’t stay out for 2 mins without the support of Quinn. It’s up to Quinn to let them do it or not.
This coach is untouchable by the media, a full, no questions asked free pass. The org must absolutely love Quinn.

The cap will be flat for at least two more years and perhaps even longer. That will limit teams from throwing out big money long term deals to free agents. 22-23 there will be even less money in the marketplace because of what’s sucked up in 21-22. UFA’s will be changing teams not so much for the money but for changes of scenery. Ryan Strome is not going to be getting a $7mil per year deal. He’ll be lucky to get a modest raise. He picked the wrong year to be a UFA.

Lots of Rangers fans might not like David Quinn but I don’t get that feeling from Davidson and Gorton that he’s walking the plank. Mostly it seems to me an exercise in wish fulfillment when someone here says something about Quinn’s days being numbered. One of the things that Quinn talked about in the offseason was the Rangers needing to tighten up the defense and the Rangers have done exactly that.

An odd angle to talk about entitlement in that Brooks article. These guys aren’t staying out there that long because they are calling the shots. They’re just doing what Quinn wants

Larry is on the right track but he’s like 95% of the way there.

Not sure why he’s not just going the extra 5% and call out the issue for what it is, Quinn

The main problem with the second power play unit is it doesn’t have someone to really quarterback it. This is the area we miss DeAngelo the most. It’s not that Brooks is wrong about what he says about the first power play unit but the second power play unit hasn’t scored a single goal the entire season. Kakko, Lafreniere, Chytil, Trouba, Miller have exactly 0 power play points between them. Buchnevich has 5 assists but they all come from time spent on the first power play unit so to me Brooks is kind of right and kind of wrong at the same time here. Giving the second power play unit more ice time is not likely to lead to more power play goals either.

Trouba has been really good this year (Not saying he's worth $8M). Have we just decided he's bad because we're locked into his play from last year?
Don’t bother with the facts. Some have their minds made up already
