Yeah, my thought earlier was that there seems to be a healthy dialogue between the two teams. I personally would rather investigate their over abundance at center this summer and see what’s available vs eichel.

Like I said before, something was bound to give once everyone was back and Kravtsov came over. BLs trade value was lowered due to his current contract. The Rangers Will likely try to trade Howden and/or Goat to upgrade the 7th expansion protected spot on fwd. And maybe they try to upgrade Hajek for that last spot on D as well? Smith? ADA likely getting bought out. I do not really like this demise into marshmallow puff softness, especially with DQ at the helm. But let’s wait and see what develops until April 12 first. There are ongoing talks that are interesting. VK, The Baron and possibly The Geert Goon are incoming soon. There will be more shuffling. That is almost a given now.​

They need 2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie to meet the requirements. Blackwell, Rooney and either Howden or Gauthier would fit that for our forwards.

They gave up Joey Keane, an expansion draft exempt prospect, to acquire Julien Gauthier. It would be a bummer if he is exposed and lost for nothing.

Howden, while better this season, is still the easiest to replace and, in my opinion, the least valuable out of the two. If you have no spot for Gauthier, that's fine. You protect him, and trade him for assets after the expansion draft.

Rangers now have a little over $30MM in cap space this offseason with 13 signed players (Panarin, Kreider, Zbad, Strome, Kakko, Laff, Rooney, Blackwell, Trouba, Miller, Fox, ADA and Geo). ADA will be gone one way or the other, so let's say he's bought out. That adds another $4.4MM has his cap hit would be $300K, so almost $35MM in cap space for 12 players.

Imo this has to do more with Barron than Kravtsov; Kravtsov was gonna fit anyway.

Gauthier has to go to the 4th line to make room for Kravtsov so in a way it does have to do with Kravtsov (as being the more immediate move).
