He changed that line during the game, blackwell started there. That was not Quinn making the change from home

Knoblauch himself said that it was part of the plan as discussed with Quinn. Watch Knoblauch's post game interviews. Even in last night's interview, he gave all of the credit to Quinn and his staff.

Fox is 7th in the NHL in points per game for defenders.

Hedman, Makar, Barrie, Carlson, Petry, Theodore are ahead of him.

Their teams are 1, 3, 2, 4, 10, 7 respectively in goals for per game. The Rangers are 11th.

Fox is playing tougher defensive minutes than than virtually all of them and you could definitely argue is a better defender than any of them besides Hedman.
Hedman is an overrated defender. McD is better by a fair amount. There is a fetish with fans and pundits with D-men that score alot. And that fetish leads to overrating the rest of their game. I am not saying Hedman is a poor defender, but he's not Nick Lidstrom or even Ryan McDonagh in that regard. Fox is a very good defender but he has his weaknesses in the d-zone as well. And that often gets ignored due to the beauty of everything else he does. And he is better than the rest of this list maybe excluding Theodore.

Mika is making some people look real silly right now.
Yes me included but I think we would all have liked to see some consistency spread over the season. No one knows whether it was Covid-related or just a bad slump but if he had been playing up to par (and I am not talking the blistering pace he has been on lately) this team would be holding a playoff position as we speak.

This is a crazy pills territory bad take. Hedman is the best D in the league by a fair margin.

Hedman was a 2 way beast in the playoffs, a complete beast.

MCD is a terrific defensive d man at this point. They compliment each other wonderfully in tb, but I think you are selling Hedman's defensive play short. There is only one Lidstrom (so it is silly to hold that as any kind of standard for d play) and Hedman's skating allows him to eliminate a lot of plays before they even develop whereas MCD is terrific at eliminating plays that have developed...

4 games remaining until Hajek meets the GP requirement for exposure to Seattle, of course once he's re-signed. It'll be interesting whether he stays in the lineup after that, but I hope he will. I'd like to pull Rykov over once his season ends as well.

if they’re thinking about Barron as C with the big club, they may be looking to move Howden in advance of the expansion draft or expect to lose him in the expansion draft.

Or they may want to move Howden to LW.

well as Larry pointed out in that article. barron playing C might have been out of need due to injuries in hartford....time will tell if the rangers vision of him as a winger vs a center has changed.

if we don't trade for another dman. they will probably end up protecting hajek just cause we have no one else.

We are pretty well set for minimum exposure requirements with the current roster. Kincaid, Bitetto, Rooney, and Blackwell were all signed to 2-year deals to cover it.

I don’t think Brooks is correct on his point regarding Kincaid and waivers. The rule is a player has to go through waivers again after 30 days or 10 games played. Kincaid has played in 7 games.

Listen the only reason Howden is even playing is because we don't have anyone else to put at center. Moving him to wing would be dumber than dumb. He does not do anything well. He can't score, is not a good skater and not at all physical. If they bring in another center then he should be out of the lineup. We have other obvious choices to play the wing including our Krav who is waiting to get into the lineup.

Only Bitetto meets the requirement for D. Maybe they want a little security.

Wouldn’t be the first time.

a conversation during the game?

Before the game.

The plan all along was to move him to tjat line.

Knobkauch didn't just decide that it was a good idea.

Anything that happens as it relates to roster decisions are the HC to make. The Temp is there as no more than an animated cardboard cut out with the exception of an occasional late game situation that may need special instructions.
