I’m starting to lean towards I hope not much longer. I really liked him at first but lately I’m concerned about being ready to start each game. We’ll see if that returns when he comes back. Hopefully not though.
Rangers started out like dog shit in all 3 periods in there last game.

I'm at the point where I'd only consider Eichel just to watch the Buffalo fans cry about it. I didn't think any fanbase could be worse than the Columbus crowd during the Nash trade, but good God, the Buffalo crew makes the c-bus kids look pleasant in comparison.

Beyond that, I don't want to go anywhere near Eichel. Whether it's in the body or in the brain, that kid has some fragility to him. I worry about any "superstar" who can't elevate his team out of the bottom of the league (not even saying playoffs, just out of the basement). And I worry about any "superstar" whose best season only had him tied for 10th in league scoring (which was, by a SIGNIFICANT margin, the highest he'd ever ranked). This has backfire written all over it.

At this point, I want Eichel to refuse a trade until his NMC becomes active, and then force his way somewhere for a low return. Just so I can laugh at all the obnoxious Sabre fans' tears

If one looks down the road ...say about 2-3 years time....just exactly who will we be facing as opposition centers in the final 4 teams in the playoffs ? In the East we have the Leafs-Habs?-Jersey? and ? and in the West we have Colorado- LA? Vancouver ? Oilers? ....and I likely missed couple . Who would be really dominating down the middle and better then Mika-Chytil-Strome?-Barron ? ...feeding our top 6 wingers ? I would be very leery of adding a 10 million dollar guy at this point and giving up 4+ assets for that . I also would still highly entertain Lafreniere at Center....it solves soooooooo many problems if that can be pulled off ....definitely worth the look .

In fairness, imagine what it must be like being a sabres fan. Your team has stunk for a decade, you’ve got the worst long contract in the league, and all your best young players want out

I'm glad I'm not the only one reading the things they want in return for him. I hope that team is a dumpster fire until I'm collecting social security.

I think it means that they'll wait until Quinn is back before making the decision to play him or not.
I understand, but I think it is kind of ridiculous to handle things that way when the guy isn't around the team at all. It isn't like this is beer league and the guy behind the bench has no clue what is going on, the temp coach is a legit head coach and has been overseeing things for almost a week at this point, I would hope he has the pulse of things by now.

You’re exactly right that this is not a beer league and Quinn hasn’t been relieved from his head coaching duties even if he can’t behind the bench on the game night.

And obviously Knoblauch (who’s been around most guys for barely two weeks instead of years like Quinn) is prohibited from providing any kind of input or observations from running practices. Quinn is forced to make roster decisions with eyes wide shut, just as he normally would. Just in case :sarcasm:

Easily Ottawa. They are building a very, very good team

They are, but if we keep progressing, we'll f*ck them up in the PO's.

It will be so nice to have all these new powerhouses around though. Playoffs the next ten years are gonna be so much fun.

yea, but we all know once they are off ELCs and need to be paid market price they will be traded bc owner is a cheap ass
Melnyk will never allow that team to be successful. Eagerly looking forward to the Brady Tkachuk contract negotiations this summer.

This isn't a decision to waive a guy, if Knoblauch is responsible for putting kakko on the line with strome and paranin during the last game then you're telling me he cant make a decision to scratch a AAAA level player to dress Kravtsov if he feels VK is ready for game action? Or are we now suggesting that Quinn is actually the person Drury is talking to in game on the mic and he is relaying instructions from DQ to Knoblauch realtime during games and Knoblauch is the avatar coach....

Small market team with a tight owner of sorts....do you think they can be as competitive on a shoestring budget ? I think there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in Ottawa before they are a final four type of club . Norris and White would be the two C's they have going forward and what else in the middle after them ? I don't know what the pipeline for them is as far as prospects go.

Lowry would be a great addition ....adds a lot of what will help us in the playoffs . He will cost around 4-4.5 per year for 5 years ?....or thereabout ? Maybe that is too much ?

Way too much.

Was thinking more along the lines of 3 years 3m per

Yup, this is exactly what I'm telling you. Knoblauch can provide his input to Quinn on what he sees but he's not a head coach of the Rangers and, therefore, he doesn't get to make this decision.

I'm saying that is ridiculous in this situation. I understand it is what is happening, but my original comment was that I don't agree with it. If he can change the lines and try to make things work in game, then he should also have some autonomy here on who dresses when looking at the lower level players on this roster. It is just my opinion...
