I’m at the point where I’d only consider Eichel of he’s forcing his way to the Rangers specifically. I’m not actively looking to trade for him.

Pretty much this. I'm cool with the buchnevich (or similar) / good prospect/1st round pick/cap equalizer deal, but that only happens in that specific scenario. I'd rather look for a defensively resposible guy who can let panarin drive the offense and be much more affordable.

Calgary has to blow it up soon, right? It feels like it’s been overdue for years.

Keep Tkachuk and the Italian kid, sell everyone else.

Gaudreau, Monahan, Giordano, Ryan, Rittich, and Bennett are all free agents within the next 2 years.

Kravtsov will get his opportunity.

It’s not going to be a perfect or immediate transition to the NHL game.

At the very least they are putting Gauthier on the third line

Retool? That roster needs a grenade chucked into it. There are people who post on this board that have more experience than Kevyn “I’m a mouthpiece for the Pegulas” Adams.

The organization needs the gernade imo. Everyone who goes there gets worse, its no use trading a top line center and then going looking for one only for him to come to that organization and be worse than he was than when they traded for him. They really should have taken Brian Burke when they had the chance as a president or whatever, someone who can get proper personnel to address all their issues before they do anything. If they don't rebuild from the top down nothing will change. So for me, id keep Dahlin, keep Eichel, Cozens and Ristolainen and see who you can move, should be able to move Hall and Staal, maybe Miller, but Skinner you're married to. After that you take those assets and reset. Like i say, its no good to rebuild if you as an organization isn't prepared for it.

If Gorton somehow manages to 'Zibanejad' Zibanejad in a trade for a young potentially elite C I'd be completely ok with that step back momentarily. And we'd really see what Fil Chytil has in him - which I am really starting to believe Chytil is perfect for modern/future NHL style and can't even see a ceiling for him currently. Would not shock me if he is a 1C within two years.

Mika + Nils has got to be worth a f*ck-ton around this league.

Who has the best C prospects who could stand to lose them for a slight overpayment?

Even if Mika + Nils doesn't cut it we can make a package that addresses the needs of one of the teams with a sub-23yr old studly C.

So Zibanejad and a 7th for Barkov and a 2nd? :sarcasm:

I’m sure Kravstov will get a game the moment Gauthier gets scratched next

Which if my calculations are correct, he’ll be scratched whichever game is Quinn’s first game back

Dylan Larkin fits the criteria at 24 years old. Ready for a breakout at 25, Mika style

Gorton has a decision to make this offseason.

a) Upgrade Strome - most likely not a long-term option because of salary.
b) Upgrade Chytil - becomes sketchy with all of our centers due to get paid. not likely
c) Do nothing.

I can’t be the only one sitting here wondering what would happen to the universe if Panarin and Mangiapane ended up on the same team. Or god forbid, the same line?

I'm at the point where I'd only consider Eichel just to watch the Buffalo fans cry about it. I didn't think any fanbase could be worse than the Columbus crowd during the Nash trade, but good God, the Buffalo crew makes the c-bus kids look pleasant in comparison.

Beyond that, I don't want to go anywhere near Eichel. Whether it's in the body or in the brain, that kid has some fragility to him. I worry about any "superstar" who can't elevate his team out of the bottom of the league (not even saying playoffs, just out of the basement). And I worry about any "superstar" whose best season only had him tied for 10th in league scoring (which was, by a SIGNIFICANT margin, the highest he'd ever ranked). This has backfire written all over it.

The Eichel stuff is nuts. Nobody gets a return like that unless it’s one that only looks that lopsided in hindsight when pieces hit or exceed their ceilings.

For the “someone like this never gets moved” talk - we hear that every year about some guy or another. Top players get moved in situations like these. They don’t happen a ton, but they absolutely do happen.
Yea it’s mostly fiction and dreams of writers. If that’s the case EICHEL can stay miserable in buffalo until his NMC kicks in and then the price will drop drastically cause he can basically decide where he wants to play

Damn straight. Why the f*** would we gut the organization for a saviour that's injury prone and IMO is not the difference between Cup and no Cup. I'd rather do nothing at all and bank on Kakko, Chytil, Laf, Shestyorkin, Miller upping their contribution and getting new capability from Lundquist and Kravtsov. Manage the f***ing cap and let this deep talent pool give us 4 or 5 decent runs at the Cup.

pretty sure it’s the cap that’s part of the issue since PDG is the obvious player to trade or waive as a ufa but he’s on the covid list

I’m fine w Kravtsov getting a week of practice in then adding him to the actual roster in April
