It's also pretty clear that the draft isn't a panacea to parity- it isn't sufficient to fix critically broken teams like Ottawa, Buffalo, Detroit, ect.
If better parity is the goal the NHL needs to think of alternate strategies.
We have said it for a long time, good teams develop prospects well. Miserable teams cannot develop prospects, almost. And especially not defenders, they are shelled to heavily playing on a miserable team. Just look at Rasmus Dahlin. How would Q Hughes or Makar and co look after playing 19 straight without a win?
