If weren't 10 points behind Pitt I would think twice, three maybe 4 times before trading Strome but if a team is offering an intriguing prospect or a first rounder you gotta do it. I really was hoping the trading at the deadline would not be a thing this year but I guess it is what it is.

there was almost no chance he was getting traded during the season even before this. the cap just makes it too complicated. and it makes more sense for the sabres to trade him during the offseason when more teams can afford him and potentially bid

And it will leave him with his lowest points total in a season since he was drafted. This probably only adds to his frustration in Buffalo.

Eichel would be a draft day trade or summer trade. not a deadline move especially with his cap hit and questionable issues he has.

No, they have to clear waivers first.

thanks, I figured they are on the last year of entry level but they must be over a certain amount of games played

They pretty much have to make a deal or waive someone for Kravtsov eventually . PDG is the only one that makes sense on waivers

The only waiver exempt players on the team right now:

Kakko
Lafrenière
Miller
Fox
Lindgren
Shestyorkin

And for the last time, Howden doesn’t require waivers to be sent to Hartford.

Howden signed his ELC at age 18 and has played 164 games in the NHL. He is no longer waiver exempt.

There really isn't anything any one organization is doing that is so different from another. While the Rangers have been underachieving this year, its just an excuse. Many teams have been in tough situations. So, why is it that some teams show up and others don't? Why is it that Brady Skjei is looking more like the guy we saw as a rookie under Rod? Why do the Ranger's look like they play at half speed most of the time? At some point, it's on the coach.

Or maybe it’s because Skjei was exposed as unfit for the role the Rangers expected for him while with a more complete and mature roster around him in Carolina Skjei looks decent. Canes sucked for many years before they got to this point (what two seasons ago?) even when all pundits were saying they should have been doing better because of all the quality of their roster. Developmental and maturation takes time and it looks like well over 50% of this board is incapable to comprehend it and show patience.

Breadd - Zib - Buchnevich
Kreider - Strome - Kravtsov
Laf - Chytil Kakko

For me, it's just that fourth line that's suspect. Lemmy, Howden, Gauthier, Blackwell (should be more top-9), Rooney...

Originally I was thinking Lemmy should be protected for expansions. Now I feel like there's no point in bothering.

Rooney, Blackwell, Gauthier and PDG have a making of a very decent 4th line.
