Weak and Kreider still sucks.

There’s a good chance that contract forces us to let a guy like Buchnevich go. I know there’s no way you could’ve predicted winning the lottery but I think the CK contract was destined to be an anchor regardless. 10 games to go and the guy doesn’t show ... the guy half the people think should wear the C.

Bitetto made Hajek look good and that’s saying something.
correct. unless hajek is nursing something, there’s zero excuse for starting bitetto tonight. its not like he even looked good against nj.

maybe jones will get a shot since we’re not making the playoffs.

Yea. Not starting Jones this game I get. Bitetto over Hajek was just plain dumb

Let’s just hope to see Gauthier for Howden and Hajek for Bitetto

Lastly Jones for a likely hurt Trouba
Dont hold your breath.... Quinn hates Gauthier because the guy clearly insulted him or a family member... plus Brett Howden can do no wrong... not even when he cant bang home a one timer point blank in front of the net with no one around him.

Hajek may have some of the physical tools to play at this level, but he will never have the head for it. I am not a scout by any means, but he is not an intelligent player and I can’t see him staying in this league for long.

Well once again that game showed why we would be ousted early once again in a playoff series . We are at least 3 decent 6ft 210 + pounders with an attitude away from being able to go with some clubs and providing some room for some of our more slight sized skilled guys and our bigger soft playing types to work . I'm hoping that management can make those changes in the next two seasons . We should be able to land one via a UFA signing and one via a trade to add that to our roster . Next season maybe Schneider cracks our lineup ? I would love to see Miller add more nastiness into his game . Trouba was playing so good for us as of late.....albeit was only against NJ . Have at it guys !

I'm with @True Blue on this one. I mean, Gorton probably listened to a lot of GM's and certainly has decisions to make when it comes to Buchnevich but there was nothing out there to indicate he was being shopped, dangled, or whatever word you want to use. Honestly, I'm not sure that the Rangers themselves are sure yet. Buchnevich has taken probably the largest step forward of any Rangers player other than Fox and has elevated himself to one of the better two way forwards in the league. That's not an easy call to make.

Edge was live-posting during the draft that Buch to EDM was all but a done deal before EDM backed out to use their 1st round pick.

disagree. playing 5 d-men will always be challenging. and when two of those d-men are smith and bitteto, that compounds the issue.
True but what I mean is it’s easier when you have a deep defense to handle that, instead of exposing poor Bitteto, removing Miller’s safety blanket, and playing Smith way over his head.

Miller is only a top four guy right now with the correct partner. He’s going to improve but it’s true. We need some of the kids to come in and improve our defensive depth over time. We can only hope Lundkvists transition is quick and seamless

Vince's latest article (Subscribe!) Has some great snippets on the prospect defensive competition for next camp. Here's the highlight that relayed to me that we and Drury are on the same page.

"That's the plan: To have them all come to Ranger training camp, tryout, put their best foot forward and we'll go from there," Drury said.
Barring a trade, whoever doesn't make the cut from the group that should include Lundkvist, Jones, Schneider, Robertson, Skinner and Reunanen (and don't forget Libor Hájek) will be ticketed for AHL Hartford, which Drury noted they'll all be eligible for.
Lundkvist is positioned as the leader of the pack, especially if he's able to showcase his talent for the Swedish National Team at the IIHF World Championships this spring.

Right, I figure Smith moves up and plays with Miller.

Hopefully Jones comes in as 3LD, and Hajek/Bietto move to 3RD.

Man alive I can wait until we have a legit 3rd pair.

Hopefully with Jones, the 3rd pairing will at least be able to move the puck up ice and not get pinned in the defensive zone so much. Any combination of Smith, Bitetto, and Hajek on the ice together will be a shift spent almost entirely in the defensive zone.

No mention of Rykov?

I wouldn’t even entertain an Eichel trade until he’s back to playing. Herniated discs in your neck is no joke. If your giving up the package to get him then pay him 10+ million then he’d better be 100%. You don’t want to pay that for damaged goods.

not touching a neck. Especially with that $10 million price tag thru 2026

By some miracle Rangers trade with Seattle to get them to draft CK... and then I wake up.

But in all seriousness what is there available from the Rangers thats actually interesting for expansion. Not a whole lot. You could dangle CK & TDA over Gauthier, Howden, Hajek... I'd rather take them over the latter.

Its not even like CK is a bad player. He is what he is, I just dont like having that much $ tied to him with all this current/future talent
