One does not overpay by trading a legit top line player for some random first round center that may or may not even be an NHLer. That is just plain stupid. When have you EVER seen a trade like that? Are you telling me that each and every center that is taken in the first round is more than enough to trade for legit top liners? Maybe that should then be a strategy. Just draft all centers and then trade them for young, top liners. Teams of all sorts should just be waiting to unload 25 year old 60-70 point players.

Heck, the Rangers should draft Raty and Silinger and someone will just fork over players exactly like Buchnevich for them, right?

While we are at it, if your are a team like Florida then how do you ever make a trade for what makes your team better?
That’s what the kings have been doing. Seems to work for them. Ironically there 1 team I could see making a deal with us because they are thin on D and wing

that first assume that the rangers were interested in trading him at the deadline and there is zero reason to believe that was the case.

Okay, yet this summer they will be interested in trading him when he is worth less than he would have been?

What top line player did the Kings trade straight up for a center draft pick that has never played a second of NHL time?

Don’t jump to conclusions. I never said draft picks are better. I said your going to have to overpay for a ELC center prospect that was taken in the top half of the draft, because once they are drafted they are rarely if ever dealt. Unless the offer is too good to refuse

Can you stop moving the goal posts?

You said "NOTHING"
NOTHING remains NOTHING. One little Brooks article does not speak for the greater media or any other rumors. What else is there besides one small paragraph from Uncle Larry?

Then tell me what last legit top liner was traded straight up for a center prospects who has never played a second in the NHL?

Show me trades where young centers that have been drafted at the top half of the first RD are dealt without playing for the team that drafted them??? They don’t exist. If you want them, the price is steep. Gorton offered Top 6 established winger kreider for Newhook. It was turned down. Unless the guy asks for a trade or it’s a financial thing like Zibby it almost never happens

I didn’t say they made 1-1 trades. I said they have been drafting an abundance of centers even though they have needs at other positions
You said that there is no Florida add as that is the cost of doing business for a center. My entire point was that whomever is making such a trade for Buchnevich would need to add. You said that no, as that is the cost of doing business. I disputed that. If you are now saying that such deals are not really made, then you agree with me that no team is trading a legit, young top liner for a young center that has never played a second in the NHL. Or do you still disagree with that? If so, fine that is your view. But what can you point to that would strengthen the argument? I recall no trades like that.

I’m trying to tell you that young center prospects that are drafted at the top half of the first Rd are rarely ever dealt before playing for the team that drafted them. It would require an overpay to get Lundell out of FLA. they have their own kids that need ice time and will get better in tippet and Denisenko. Verheagie was a great add for them, they still have Huby. Wingers are much easier to add then a center. That’s why we’re looking. These types of prospects are not dealt without being overpaid for. It’s a big reason why we couldn’t acquire the Zergas pick, it’s a big reason why Sakic would take kreider for Newhook. The position is more in demand, which makes teams want more to move them
