They're in a hunt, even if they are underdogs/playing from behind.

These are important games for our young talent. Playoffs were seen as a bonus, but not the minimum standard. That's more or less where we are right now.

The final 6 games will be like a playoff round imo, 6 games vs the better teams the division, 2 of those games vs a team we are chasing for the spot. Those games are going to be intense for us.

Our window is the next few years as laf and Kakko and Kratsov are on elc’s, we’ve got some of the best young talent.
When those contracts come due it’s gonna be
much tighter, especially with a flat cap.
See and I think that they are not in their window yet and will not be for another 3-4 years. When I say window, I mean as legit Cup contenders.

Chicago and Pittsburgh won their Cups after all of Kane/Toews Crsoby/Malkin ended their entry levels.

And none of the Ranger prospects are them (at least not yet for the optimists), so they should probably take up a lesser percent of cap space on their 2nd contracts.

Rangers in my opinion will need to be more careful about their cap percentages to players who are probably not going to be part of any contending core, there is just not going to be much wiggle room there given the current contracts already signed.

I just feel like they've played like a playoff team overall and it sucks they'll waste this year by Fox and Panarin if they don't make it.
With the growth of the young players and having them play their rookie and sophomore years in a playoff chase environment, the year is hardly wasted. This is one of those needing to see the forest through the trees moments.

So u bring in another coach and what is our record?

He's certainly NOT Perfect but he's not the reason this team sucks and has sucked for a majority of the season
What the hell are you talking about? Have you seen Knoblauch's 5 games? If he were the coach, the team would be undefeated. That is a factual statement.

Panarin's LOA - Quinn's fault
Mika's post-Covid - Quinn's fault
Chytil's injury during Mika's post-covid - Quinn's fault
Shesterkin injury and bad overall goaltending early in the season - Quinn's fault

Early goaltending carousel

team continually starting games poor and unprepared

refusal to switch personnel On PP when PP was stagnant.

continually playing Howden

puzzling line up decisions during many games and games that went to OT

admitting the teams defensive scheme was a fire drill last year

admitting why some youth don’t have more ice time is because he “ loses them” during the game.
All of these are examples of Quinn having some hand in these decisions. Not everything he’s done is bad. I’m happy he did the obvious and dropped Kreider in the line up, but a few minutes later he’s back. I think he just doesn’t like Gauthier, won’t give him 5,6,7 games in a row. I’m happy the team is in a position to make the last weeks of the season exciting. More happy some of the kids are playing well. Not everything is Quinn s fault. And when he does something good people say so. However panarin, Fox, and shesty have made this team look a lot better then they are. They mask a whole lot of issues and literally steal games. I think just those 3 guys make Quinn look good. That’s why he’s riding them with heavy minutes

The ridiculous early goaltending carousel alone could be worth 4 points.
What carousel? Both Igor and Georgiev was awful in the beginning. When confronting that, one would ass-u-me that they would try anything to get the bleeding to stop. Ever since Shesterkin found his game, he has had the great majority of the split, as he should. There was never a carousel aside from the very beginning of the year when both goalies were playing like tukhus.

I wonder if Mika and DQ have an issue? Saw a conversation on bench between the 2 on tv and it seemed that Mika wasn't excited to talk to DQ. So I wonder if Mika has maybe subconsciously quit on DQ?

Not a big fan of Quinn, but I blame this more on Shesty’s injury, Georgiev being shaky and then Kinkaid’s surprisingly good play.
It was before that. He was doing some weird competition and would keep saying we don’t know who are starting goalie is, and kept rotating. Until he finally rode shesty and gave him a healthy dose of games in a row. Neither goalie was particularly sharp at that time, but with no camp short season what do you expect. He finally relented though

That’s what I just posted. He was doing weird shit. Shesty would win 1, then he would go back to geo, vice versa. Then he said in a post game interview we don’t have a Number 1 starter right now. We’re going game by game basis. Until finally he gave shesty a healthy dose of games and his game turned around. He’s been excellent lately. Only had 1 maybe 2 games where he wasn’t sharp

The January starts for Georgiev against the Devils and Sabres were piss poor. I mean the guy got yanked against the Devils and was only started as the "hot hand" when IMO Shesterkin should have been the clear cut starter based on last year. But even when Shesterkin "found his game" (despite being the clear cut starter based on last year) by at worst the end of January...Georgiev still started 4/11 games between then and when Shesterkin got hurt despite having zero back to backs. The 1/30 PIT and 2/10 BOS games being the most egregious in terms of decision to start Georgiev and his performance in those games.

He sure did. Funnily enough it comes right after having the two best seasons of his career. So naturally he went on strike for the first twenty games of the year. And is now only playing well to spite Quinn.

Hey now, enough with all these specifics! People might have to take you seriously instead of just arrogantly dismissing your thoughts!

January was the start of the year. Shesterkin was not playing well either. They were both letting in beach balls. However, that is the extent of the carousel. The second Igor found his game, is when he started playing in the lion's share of the games.

From the Bruins board. This is depressing.

A little but it’s just the reality of things. I expected us to be playoff contenders this year but that was not including Covid and a beefed up schedule of opponent difficulty, and I also expected more from Laf and Kakko.

Once those two take off and we get back to a normal schedule this team will be very hard to keep out of the playoffs for many years.

That’s what I’m saying. They were both playing shitty. Shesty would have some games where he was good for half the game etc. geo was getting lit up like a Christmas tree and getting yanked. I’m talking specifically starting Geo, after shesty had won the prior game. And it wasn’t a back to back start. Come on, you have to remember this. Please don’t make me go back and check dates lol. And for the record I’m not saying this season is a disaster and everything is Quinn’s fault I’m just giving an example of 1 of his crazy pills decisions

The goalie play is not one of the "crazy pill decisions". Seeing which goalie has found his game, seems like the prudent thing to do.

Considering the records of some of the playoff teams, one could argue that they would have already been much more in playoff positions were this a regular year with wild cards.

It was neither. Shesty at the time looked better, but was still off. Georgiev looked abysmal. And was pulled a few times by that point. I can’t remember if this was right before or right after the DeAngelo altercation. I think it was like a month or so before
