Great to see. Bread dye his hair?

Prob going to alternate him and Brett for the rest of the season.

For all the bitching about howden in here, lets be serious and realize that he is the least of the issues with this team right now. We all are frustrated with him and the time he gets, but when your 3rd string goalie is starting a game for the first time in years and you need to rely on him to keep you in the game rather than coming out with fire and effort you have much bigger issues than Brett Howden...
Hes on the 4th line and PKs. He's the only guy on the team that plays his role day-in, day-out. I think he'd be better at wing tbh.. Why are we complaining about our 4th line? It's not the reason we're losing games

He also drew 2 PP's last night.

Eh, that feels kinda weak to me. And I say that as someone who thinks Howden doesn't have much of a long-term future here.

Six guys are mentioned. Three of them have less time on the PK than him (Kreider only about 1/3 the time). Rooney is more or less on par with Howden when you factor in the ice time difference, and that leaves Zibanejad and Buch.

The PK is fifth in the league. He's a big part of it. I give him credit where credit is due.

Wish the offense was there because I wouldn't really have a problem with him a fourth line center getting 8 minutes a night.

But it's not there, and he's not getting 8 minutes a night, so that just isn't gonna work.

But it's not very high up on my list of things that will/could open this season up for us.

Say we end up with a #8-10 1st round pick.

Do you draft Johnson or Raty, assuming they are there...

or would you trade that pick with one of Buch/Kravtsov/Strome for Larkin?

Welcome back Cally!

Hope Valiquette is ok. I would hate to lose the guy. I like what he brings to the table.

He's been doing very well on NBC and NHL Network. Would be awesome if he sticks with MSG. Dude was proud to be a Rangers captain and play in front of the fans at MSG, glad he is getting this opportunity.

For me, I'd use the pick and then trade Strome/Buch for another pick later in the 1st and keep compiling assets. I'd be more inclined to trade a 2022 pick than 2021

Agreed. There are things we can complain about Howden, the PK is not one of them.

Been watching the replay of the game as i missed big parts of it last night but we really didn't play that bad. The difference was that their forwards capitalized on their chances and ours didn't specifically Mika on two one timers that weren't even close. I don't know what's with his shot but he keeps hitting it right too far.

I'd trade for Larkin because I honestly think he would fit this team very, very well on a number of fronts.

But, taking that off the table, I'd probably swing for upside with Johnson.

I'd take that shot on a guy who has the top-shelf offensive talent, even with some of the question marks.

Raty looks like an NHL player to me. But right now he feels like a solid middle six kind of player. In the right context, if you think he's a center, he's ideally the type of guy you run out there on the third line behind [Insert Name] and Chytil.

Howden has a role on the team, i take no issue with him playing. PDG has no role here and i have no idea why Lemieux was scratched in favor of him.

I agree and want Quinn out.

But show me a coach who has never made personnel decisions that irritate the fanbase.

It's definitely not just a Quinn thing, every coach has blindspots. Players they love but probably shouldn't and vice versa. Its annoying but its everyone.

Shesterkin — who skated in Pittsburgh on Monday while the team was off — has never started more than three straight games in the NHL. He has compiled a streak that long only twice, once last year and once this season. He never played more than 39 games in a KHL season, though he did play in 25 of the Wolf Pack’s 36 games last year before his promotion to New York.

That is crazy.

If he can't take take the load now, at 25, we're going to have issues.

Lets not kid ourselves. EVERY coach has an expiration date. It's just the nature of the beast.

Quinn has expired already. The team does not buy in or does not understand what's being asked. Either outcome is bad.

Yeah although I don't think this is even indicative of Shesty being unable to start more than 3 in a row and moreso indicative of Quinn being unwilling to start him more than 3 times in a row.

So Panarin is back but won't play tomorrow night wtf???

Quinn galaxy braining as usual. I think most players need some practices before jumping back in the lineup after missing time but Panarin would be one of the few who shouldn't. He should be back in the lineup the second he's available.

Ya i mean he could play small mins and get out there on the pp if nothing else, doesn't have to play 20 mins. I have a feeling this started out with the Russia story but maybe that injury he got earlier vs the bruins was the reason he stayed out so long

Never starting 3 straight games in the NHL isn't a crazy stat for a goalie whose played in 27 NHL games lmao, especially when most of that is because our coach insisting on rotating Georgiev in. Then there was a freak accident with the car crash, then he tweaked something after coming back from the long break coming into the bubble, and this little tweak here in this weird season. There's been a lot of players getting injured during this weird season, I don't think there's anything to worry about.
