I'm telling you, the market sucks right now. Buffalo is in a rough spot. Not many can take on that cap hit and bonus due. The market is dry. They'd need to eat cap like Toronto did with Kessel and/or not get equal value.

Still think Eichel is a bad move based on what we need; taking the entire dynamic of the team into consideration as well

I doubt anybody would consider Zibs an attractive add to their club right now if they have been watching any video this season . Nobody really knows how Covid will hurt him long term.....at this point it does not look good . I certainly would not want him back in a deal....I would want Chytil before him if he returns and does not suffer the same post Covid symptoms that have derailed Zibs.....one game so far....hard to judge . I don't see any trades happening anytime soon for us of any magnitude . ...like the headline says...."smaller" ....as in a couple of tweaks to make us a bit grumpier and robust in these division series that are heating up by the game .

Here's a question for you. If the Rangers offer Buchnevich+Chytil+Robertson+1st, what would LA offer to match that or even beat that? Assuming they aren't trading Byfield and Turcotte the same way we aren't trading Kakko or Lafrenière...

Vilardi+Björnfot+Fagemo+???

IMO They dont have an 'offer/deal' unless Turcotte or Byfield is involved.

There many pre requisites to land players like Eichel. Rangers tick all the boxes.

The type of luck we have been having in the off-season.... I would not be surprised when EDM collapses and misses the playoffs... McDavid then demands a trade. It would cost the same/less than what people are offering here,

to get McDavid we would have to give Laf AND Kakko and picks and probably more lol

That's right, we don't need another non-leader emotional man-child making millions to coast on back checks.
Right now, I think the team needs an example for the kids to learn from on the ice. Doesn't even have to be a star, just someone with experience to make sure these kids are on the right path.

If LA is willing to give up Turcotte and/or Byfield, they can have Eichel. I am 99% sure they won't though.

Buffalo is going to sell their best player in arguably the worst off-season in the cap era (flat cap, most teams up against the cap, no compliance buy outs etc).

When we traded for Nash everyone knew there was a lockout coming so it was relatively low-risk. Nash was signed for 6 more years, Eichel for 5 more years. That matters more than their age (28 vs 24)

What is the team acquiring Eichel going to do in 2025 when he is on the verge of turning 30?

I’d do that ++ easily for McDavid. We sometimes forget that we watch these games for entertainment. I’d give them whatever they want basically for the privilege of watching the best player in the game day in and day out.

I think LA beats that offer pretty easily. They have a number of top C prospects and a farm system just as deep as ours, if not deeper. I think they'd be fine with moving Turcotte since they'd have Kopitar, Eichel, Byfield, as well as Tyler madden, Vilardi, Kupari, and so on

There are so face-off specialists out there. I like Peca, but we could also dig up someone like Dave Scatchard or Mike Sillinger. Shit, I almost suggested digging up Peter Zezel (RIP).

I thought this was interesting

Any room on Rangers bench for a faceoff coach like Peca?

Wow.. Practicing with proper coaching works

Buffalo might be willing to accept a lesser package from LA versus the Rangers just so they wouldn't have to face playing Eichel as often.

Happy to see Braden Schneider sign his ELC, wonder what the lines will look like when Artemi & Trouba are both back, plus Kakko?

Panarin, Mika, Buch, Kreider, Chytil, Kakko, Lafreniere are locks at Forwards.

Leaves the remaining spots to Rooney, Gauthier, Lemieux, Howden, Di Giuseppe, & Blackwell.

Troube, Miller, Lindgren, Fox are locks, I'd love to see Tarmo brought up, but I'm guessing we see Johnson-Smith line again.

some of the proposals on here are absolutely ridiculous....we are not trading 4 of our top prospects plus a first round pick plus a roster player

that is ludicrous
It’s two prospects. The 1st & Georgiev were optional as indicated.

If the Rangers are getting one of the league’s top centers without giving up even one of the organization’s five most valuable assets...well, I just think if actually faced with this decision, more people would do it than willing to admit.
