@effen BTW, you say that a big source of instability to the lockerroom was removed. Why do you say that?
Edge brought that up. He mentioned that Trouba pulled ADA aside and told him to calm down with the political agenda he kept pushing.

I trust what Edge shares with us. Hell, if he told me the world was round instead of flat, I’d buy into that nonsense as well.

There was once a defenseman too red for his team
A coach too green to prevent this from falling apart at the seam

A team with the blues that couldn't handle the disarray
A GM with glasses too rosy to set the record straight right away

A rumor of a puck that was stolen from a black teammate
A fan blog bruised purple and blue finally scared straight

A player waived, left astray, marooned as he awaits his fate
A roster building thread teaming bright red with hate

An asset turned from gold to grey
A fanbase jaded and in dismay

Why are we still talking about Tony DeAngelo you say?
I don't know I'm just here rhyming with colors to keep my urges to defend Tony at bay

Fun Buchnevich facts (Per Natural Stat Trick):

Among F's with at least 30 mins of PK time this season (102 total), on the PK he ranks:
- 5th in shots against per 60 (with at least 11 mins more played than anyone above him)
- 15th in SF% (with at least 2 mins more than anyone above him)
- 11th in Goals Against per 60 (with at least 5 mins more than anyone above him)
- 6th in xGF% (with at least 2 mins more than anyone above him)
- 5th in HDCF% (with at least 2 mins more than anyone above him)

This guy is a genuinely good PKer at the moment. Far better than we had any right to believe before the season

There was a RD from a burb o’Philly
Whose goalie played a puck very silly
They came to blows, he got hit on the nose
And now finds the KHL quite chilly

This, but we have seen this movie before on these boards...
Its one of the stages of the blockbuster trade. Same thing with Nash. It won't happen turns to scrap proposals because he can only come here turns to he stinks. It's so identical I know it's destined to happen. This will carry into the off-season until that signing bonus is due. Neither side will like the return but the obvious untouchables will still be here.

There's no way in hell that Chytil gets 3.5 on his next deal unless it's for 5 years.

If we give Shesty 6 million, it better be a god damn 8 year contract.

Listening to some of the Sabre post game interviews, including media, coach and players, and man they are quite stoked about Dylan Cozens thumping of Lindgren. Kyle Okposo said "it was the most excited the Buffalo bench has been ALL season". Ralph Kreuger went on about his "one sided" win, his character, leadership and his future as a Sabre. Ralph was VERY impressed with that fight.

Buffalo coach seemed very satisfied with his teams ability to control the game for large periods of time and basically blames the loss on the first 5 mins. Said this game should be a confidence builder for his team. ( paraphrasing here).

Personally I enjoy reading/watching OTHER teams post game perspectives on their team and opponent. Ralph didn't appear to think much of our game. I say this because many NHL coaches give small compliments to other teams when they lose.

We got none lol.
Did he mention his team couldn’t beat a Ranger team missing 20-25 percent of its lineup and top players? Or did he avoid/forget that?

If he wanted a battle royale we should have brought ADA back in.

@effen BTW, you say that a big source of instability to the lockerroom was removed. Why do you say that? Like Marc Staal said that he didn’t believe that this ever had been the case at all.

To be honest, I sounds like (a) you haven’t followed this team very closely. We have a top 5 scorer for the first time in ages, he is young, no Jagr, and you ask why it’s even a thing that people care that he is kicked of the team?? (b) Staal, Trouba, Ziba, Strome and co have all come out and without exception praised TDA as a good teammate and a good friend. Gorton himself has stated that he had to deal with TDA because he had issues with DQ.
So your position is the exile is purely a coach decision who is being backed up by management?

Because being exiled is pretty strong of a move and you'd think there would be a lot of pushback (there has been none as far as I know, but I of course don't follow the team closely).

This team is really soft (93,16,21,12,20,20,27,23,89,72,) The rookies and 2nd year players get a pass. The other half can’t skate or pass to save their lives. 48 can’t skate well enough to keep up in a beer league. We need 3-5 truly gritty tough guys that will fight anyone and that will not allow the other team to run our best players. Every game 23, 55, 16, 93, 89 and 10 have our opponents take runs at them at least dozen times a game. If we truly had 2 tough guys that would kick some ass and threaten to run the other teams best players. Kreider is a and doesn’t stick up enough for himself let alone his teammates. Boston is a case in point 53 took runs at everyone and his whole team backs him up. If the Ranger just decided to have back to back line brawls the bruin would stop. Even if they took there lumps it would send a message.

Name checks out

Problem is that the team doesn't look one piece away from being ready, at all.

You've got a pretty decent chance of an Eichel trade looking horrifyingly like the Yashin trade in 5 years.
The sole reason that the Rangers don’t look like a team that is a player away is because they are not. This roster is FAR from completed. Hence one of the costs that I list is the cost of putting a team around Eichel.

I do not think that Eichel morphs into Yashin, but I do worry about what the landscape looks like after the would-be deal is made. This may well be a right player, but wrong time type of scenario.

Have to look at precedent. Recent cup winners, recent playoff powerhouses, etc. How many traded for, and committed so much money, to a merc? I think the comp is actually what Chicago did with Toews and Kane. The Hossa construction can't happen anymore, and they had Keith and Seabrook locked up for a while, so it worked for them. But that isn't going to be transferable most times.

Rangers committed a lot of money to Richards during that good run we had, but we had Brassard and Stepan on the cheap. The cost for Nash was low, and the St. Louis deal I still make every time. Rangers need as many young players as possible on entry and bridge deals, and one of them better fcking pan out at center. Chytil is looking good, but he needs to be a bonafide 2c for this to work. Then you go and sign or trade for that stud, trading FUTURE assets, not current.

Nope, and it’s not something I said either.

It’s been reported pretty clearly that Gorton was a driving force here taking DQs side.

Gorton's biggest mistake with ADA was gambling on talent maturing and that doesn't seem very bad afaict.
Except that following a year and a half of good behavior and solid production, the gamble looked well worth it. And then Tony got paid and went meshugune

Your two lines contradict each other. Unless there is some nuance I am missing.

DQ didn't like Tony because X. Gorton told him to go home forever and waived him after giving him ten million dollars. Entire locker room is full of dullards who don't either don't realize a top 5 scoring defenseman is gone or cowards who side with the coach over a teammate being kicked off the team for no real reason? Help me out here bro.

So Geersten 2 yrs is for the expansion draft ?
Capfriendly hasn't updated their interactive expansion tool to reflect Geertsen, but I would assume he will qualify. Then again, so will Bitetto and I can't see us protecting him, so ?

EDIT: forgot about GP requirement
