Thats fine we can water down the first part because everyone is well aware of the shitty things Tony has done. The point I'm trying to get across has nothing to do with invalidating Tony's responsibility, because he is responsible for this mess and caused it to occur with his own actions.

Management did a shit job with this situation, thats all I'm saying here. We are going to pay to lose our top performing d-man from last season because of the way our GM mishandled things.
So if management had kept this hush-hush other teams wouldn't realize ADA isn't playing or that the incident would have never gotten out?

Like most trade possibilities, with Eichel it's all about the cost. I'd love him as this teams #1C for the next 10 years. If the cost is Lafreniere/Kaako + then it's a hard no. If the cost is secondary assets that they feel they can replenish through other means than it's a yes. His $10m contract is high but it's not really high for a #1C.

I'll say this, Gorton and his team have a pipeline full of assets they can use. If the team really likes Buchnevich and his development this season and want to keep him around for 4-5 years, then Kravtsov to me is the centerpiece of the deal.

I'd be reluctant to give over Lundqvist. RD is just such a prime position that I'd prefer to hold onto him a bit longer. I also wouldn't mind seeing either Schneider or Lundqvist playing the left side eventually.

Kids like Robertson, Jones, Barron, Howden, Gauthier, Lemieux are secondary pieces but there are teams out there who more than likely have followed their development and like them as players. Buffalo drafted Lemieux originally so he was obviously liked enough at that point to be a high 2nd rounder.

the entire team was a mess. quinn’s scratching him early on was a moronic decision and really hurt him. I do think he’d be doing a lot better by now if he were playing, as we’ve seen our roster be better to various degrees.

You mean Tony's bad penalty and subsequent lashing out at the ref at the start of a period in which we were likely trying to get back into a game was moronic right?

It's possible that Eichel is injured right now. But is he that much more impactful on a game than Rick Nash was when we traded for him? He should be MORE impactful than Nash but he really wasn't last night. He also forced a bunch of passes last night in a way that you don't see other players of his caliber do. It was a little shocking. There are some habits seeping into his game that will have to be coached out.

What would you prefer the organization do? And since you know what they did, how many instances have they had conversations with Tony trying to steer him right? I mean at some point enough is enough and you draw a line in the sand and Tony pissed on it.

For starters I think publicizing that he would never play for the Rangers again was a huge mistake. They essentially lost all trade leverage with that one statement, why would a team want to pay any viable assets for a player whose own organization has no plans to use him.

Again I am not trying to take any fault off of Tony, he's clearly in the wrong. So is management who destroyed his trade value with their own irresponsibility and rash decision making.

TDA dug his own grave and I have zero sympathy towards him.

Separately though, the Rangers front office fumbled on this and blew up any trade value by their actions and not just suspending him.

I still also have a massive issue that the incident was Georgie punching him and the Rangers have held zero accountability on Georgie.

At one fell swoop, everybody loses on this one.

Management/Front Office loses the 2nd key component to the big Stepan Trade.
Team loses their PP QB.
Player loses his job, and his reputation.
The popular blog loses all credibility

Ultimately the Organization loses its top trade chip, that would have likely been used to help gain their coveted Center.

I believe all that, but being assaulted by a teammate isn't an issue that DeAngelo should have been punished for. The real punishment is to the organization and the fans. One of our most valuable assets was reduced to little value because of FO's inability to handle the complicated situation that DeAngelo created.

That's their job- to handle complicated situations in a way that minimizes damage to the organization.

They did handle it. They drew a line in the sand and were very clear. They moved on. Most of us have to.

I didn't like hearing that "he's played his last game as a Ranger" line either but it's one of those things where I'm sure if the trade talks were going well at all, they never would have said that.

So happy to see the ADA discussion is back on the menu.

Thats my whole thing, as per Gorton the real problem with TDA came from the scratching, thats where things went off the rails. Ya you want to hold your guys accountable but the game was over.. theres a fine line there. Thats some nerve to take the same penalty calling a ref rabbit ears then scratch your guy for the same shit. They shoulda been able to use that brash fiery attitude as an asset and DQ tried to neuter him. Everything was perfect last year, again... ya it falls on TDA but I have a real problem with all sides here

I want Eichel. But I do not want the following players to be touched, Fox, Kakko, Panarin, Lindgren, Smith, and obv Igor. What I am willing to give up, Zeb, Strome, draft picks.

sometimes no matter how firmly and regularly you teach your kids how to act and what their values should be, they do what they want to do and put the family in a bad situation. I present Tony D'angelo, forever immature A-hole.

He has a great shot. He’s great for highlight videos and fantasy. He’s not a player you win with in his current form. I would question his playoff success but he’s never been there. I also don’t think he’s in that tier of players.

i don’t want a regular season fantasy team. I want a team that will win a cup.

We need complete 2way centers, not Jack Eichel.
Disagree 100%. He is a stud.

Who better to do it than someone he already knows and respects?

Who is Smith? You mean Miller?

To be honest, I just think that he is and always has been overrated. I think due to his pedigree and perceived package, he is held higher than he should be. Just my evaluation, but I definitely estimates that he could be a 55-60 pts player in other environments. A lot of things, everything, circles around him in Buffalo. If you have everything circle around Eichel, you won’t be good. If say like Nashville traded for Eichel I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he got 55-60 pts in 80 games instead of 70-75.

The only unfortunate thing is that we didn't move Deangelo before we signed him, it was only a matter of time before he showed his colors again after getting paid.
