It’s the same old Strome.

He has a stretch where people say “wow this guy might be a real player” and then inevitably he goes back to being Ryan Strome, where you smack your forehead and say “why did they sign this guy?”
Strome could be an excellent 3C and PP2 guy on a good team. The issue is him being used as a 1B center and PP1 guy.

Either way, he’s looked pretty good for a couple weeks now after his start where it looked like he forgot what hockey even was. I just don’t see Strome as a top C and top PP guy on a contender.

You don't need mental gymnastics to dismiss Quinn. This is his 3rd year coaching a sloppy, undisciplined, inconsistent, and unsuccessful team.
I appreciate many don’t like Quinn and there are reasons supporting that opinion.
But he has been very successful, I’d say. Considering the team has been nearly completely re-built in his time and he still has a winning record.
If I were told - when Quinn took the reins - this would be the case, I’d have been thrilled. A fresh new homegrown roster and a winning record while the this all happened..? Amazing.
Again, I don’t dismiss many of the individual concerns and complaints, but on the whole I’m far from feeling he needs to go.
That said, the rest of this season is going to tell us a lot.

Even aside from the points he’s playing a lot better too
I’ve always liked Strome but I think he’s a 3C, ideally. On a contending team I can’t see him facing opponents’ top sixes.
My problem with him is simply that he’ll get paid like a 2C and it’s very hard to reckon that with a salary cap. Especially a flat cap.

Is this true? What’s his record?

Kravtsov ahead of Kakko?

Ryan Strome has been good for a majority of the season. I don't see what's so unbelievable about that. Not saying he'll sustain it or anything but I'm not going to discredit a guy playing well.

Krav isn’t touching that second line in a long time. To add Chytil and Kakko had some chemistry developing even early in the season. Them two plus PDG was our best line for a decent stretch.

Oh here we go, here’s a chart that definitely will show he has not been terrible! The Strome defenders disappeared for awhile but now that he has put 1 very good game and 2 decent games together, out of 18 no less, they are back out in full force. He has always been a terrible defensive player, its okay they say! What a piss poor excuse. He is dogshit on faceoffs, but its okay! He fumbles pucks and turns them over in the offensive zone but its okay! Here is a chart that clearly tells the story!

Listen I am so glad he had a 3 point night against the Bruins. I hope there were 30 GMs watching that game thinking we gotta have this guy.

So Chytil and Kakko close and I hope Panarin sooner than later. Who comes out?

Panarin , Zib , Buch
Kreider , Strome , Kakko
Laf, Chytil , Blackwell
Lemieux , Rooney , PDG or Howden or Goat

that’s how I see but Quinn won’t lol

Add Lundkvist as well. We’re getting there.

PDG and Gauthier are absolutely coming out. Unfortunately, with Blackwell playing well, Rooney being a center and PKer, and Howden being a PKer and somewhat of a Center, that forces Gauthier to the bench.

When Kravtsov comes over in 2 weeks is what really would be the question mark. Can DQ play the damn kid and put his love affair aside for Blackwell? Not saying to scratch Blackwell, but move him down to the 4th line.

Panarin-Zib-Buch
Kreider-Strome-Kakko
Lafreniere-Chytil-Kravtsov
Lemmy-Rooney-Blackwell

Extras: Gauthier, Howden, DiGi

Gauthier really should be playing.

do Gauthier and Howden not have minor league options so taxi or AHL

I like Phil he works hard but he’s a guy I’d trade as a ufa

Even aside from the points he’s playing a lot better too
Strome admitted in his postgame interview that he was really fighting it the first few weeks. If he can keep playing well and avoiding dumb penalties, chytil doesn’t show long term COVID issues and Mika continues to ramp it up the Rangers biggest weakness becomes a strength. Sign me up.

I am not sure on their options, but Gauthier is past that level at this point. He needs NHL minutes. You can see the talent. The Raw size and ability. Great shot and a willingness to let it go from anywhere. The willingness to drive towards the net. We need that so bad in this lineup. It sucks they took that goal away from him last night, he earned that but whatever.

Howden hasnt been extremely awful, he has improved but its really a marginal difference. I appreciate his effort but he is just lacking in so many areas. He is trying to find his niche in the league, which likely be a 3C at his peak if he ever reaches that. Right now he is just average for a 4C while making himself useful on the PK, he has played well there. Bottom line is I dont see him going down to Hartford at this point when this team decided to avoid the AHL with him from the beginning when he should have been there. 3 years later it would be quite a shot to him mentally to NOW send him down to Hartford.

Miller was extremely hyped and this board had the highest of expectations for him. I'm not sure why you don't accept that as the basis for our assertion that Miller's phenomenal play thus far has been a product of his growth in his 2 years since the draft and only partial credit should go to Martin and Quinn's development up until this point since K'andre was great almost from the start of the season once he got over the nerves. We're talking about development and progress here. How much of his great play and development 2 weeks into his Rangers career do you really want to credit Quinn with? The longer he succeeds at the NHL level and keep improving, the more developmental credit will go to Quinn and Martin just like Lindgren is now a great success story for this staff.
Ho hum. Were you postings his accolades during Wisconsin or WJC?
