That McDavid package is scary as **** but even then i can’t see edmonton taking it. why anyone would trade McDavid is head scratching.

Kakko, Lafreniere, Fox, Miller, Shestorkin, Zibanejad & 21’ + 22’ first rounders.

Can’t do it. just can’t.

that is not enough in my opinion.

All that deal does is mortgages our future for the best player in the league. You turn the 2020 NY Ranger decade into a skeleton crew skating around McDavid. He's the best there is, but isn't even good enough on his own to get the Oilers to the playoffs regularly.

That would be the darkest day in NY Ranger history if that shit went down.

You just kinda get the feeling like at some point in the season the switch is gonna flip.

You're going to get absolutely no offense any more from Rooney, Blackwell, Di Giuseppe, Bitteto and the like, but Lafreniere, Kakko, Zibanejad, and Kreider are going to start scoring more often.

The nice thing is that since pretty much every player except Panarin and Buchnevich are underperforming statistically, there's nowhere to go but up.

imagine if he does not even reach 4 goals

3 pts in 15 games 1 goal. he has to be injured or something is off with him

He doesn't look hurt to me. And if he was at this point I think the medical team would of shut him down. But wth do I know. Btw, Hasn't he been asked about how he felt physically and he insisted he felt fine?

Hes playing like he just left a Grateful Dead concert 20 minutes before puck drop.

2021 first (top-10 protected)
2022 second
2023 cond second (first rounder if we win the Cup before the 2023 draft)
Vitaly Kravtsov
K'Andre Miller
Ryan Strome (salary purposes)

That's what it would take. I rather go after Barkov
I doubt that the Sabres would want Strome. And think that it would take Chytil. So....I take your offer and counter with

Chytil, Buch, Lundkvist, 2021 pick (top-10 protected). This is without any consideration of what the cap looks like.

Can’t argue with this. The kid is a thoroughbred. This is probably the least amount of minutes he’s ever played. You need to put these guys in a position to succeed and not cut their balls off when they make a mistake. LaF should be playing a lot more IMO
As you have said....horses have to run !

Anything with Byfield/1st prolly beats that offer.
Same if Anaheim got frisky and offered Zegras/1st in a deal.

Yeah, we can't beat a Byfield or Zegras centered deal, true. I didn't think they were on the table.

My problem is that rnh at 6m a season is too much for a 3c and potentially blocks chytil as a 2C. He’s not a bad 3C but he’s gonna want a long contract and I don’t see him outperforming a 7 year 6m deal.

JT Compher is "not a bad 3C." LOL

I'm not pushing for signing RNH, but I'd consider it. Term would be more of an issue than cap hit.

Blackwell is a dime a dozen AAAA player I’d rather use an expansion slot on the younger Howden if it came down to it
Blackwell has done nothing but contribute positively in every instance he's been given a chance to play. With Howden it's been the complete opposite. The age factor isn't that important, what is Howden's realistic ceiling at this point? Quality 4th line center? Not going to get much more out of him than what he has already shown IMO. Blackwell has more utility and value than that.

Some one should take over his PK duties. That’s where he’s most replaceable.

Strome Buch Rooney Howden Lemieux Kreider and Blackwell can all PK. That’s seven forwards and more than enough.

Makes sense.

On PP I’d also take away pressure of slap shot one-timer by putting Ziba on right wall. He will have more puck on his stick to pass and be a threat with occasional wrister to keep goalies honest.

By the way Jack Eichel is starting to play like he could care less. It’s pretty obvious watching him he’s checked out
If so...that does not sound like the guy I would want to invest heavily in at this time . What would Draisaitl cost us versus Eichel ?

When it comes to Eichel, I will assume any prospects is on the table.

And on top of it, both teams 1s will be top 10 most likely.

I'd put Blackwell at center and move Howden to wing. There's something off there. He wears out after a certain amount of time.

Panarin Strome Kakko
Kreider Rooney Buch
Laffy Blackwell Howden
Lemieux Zibs PDG/Gauthier

Ridiculous. How about just a bit more patience AT THIS POINT until Chytil is back to address Ziba’s spot?

I don't think anyone should be off the table for Eichel except for Fox and perhaps Shesterkin. I can understand the extreme reluctancy to stay away from the other big pieces but if push came to shove, I think you do it. I also think it's possible there could be a 3-way deal of sorts where Zibanejad is moved to another team and those assets are also moved to Buffalo in a deal.

interestingly he has a shooters mentality. If you watched him play in AHL, he was very much a bull in a china shop who drove play and didn't really pass. I think his issues are related to when he's off the puck
Yeah, never got to see ahl level of anybody. What little I’ve tried to focus on him, he looks to be coming back deep and sometimes covering the slot which surprised me.

Lemieux has a duality to his game that can either be incredibly helpful, or a detriment.

There's a very fine zone he has play within to maximize his benefits. Even for me, I find myself going back and forth between, "That was cool" and "Ugh, why did you do that, now!?"

I think I mentioned it already last week or so but as a carryover from the last season I wanted to see issues with Lemieux. Instead, more often than not I see positive plays instead of the opposite (in the context of seeing him as a 4th liner).

The other aspect is that the Rangers will not be able to have Eichel and Zibs under the cap with a Fox raise on the horizon.

Think anything with Eichel, or Barkov for that matter will deal with a couple of moves to make it work.

And I'm not interested in dealing Zibs + LaF or Kakko

Buffalo probably won't be very interested in Zibanejad. Even if he gets his act together this year he's a UFA in 2022 and would definitely go to the open market for a better opportunity. Buffalo is going to want players with term or RFA status as well as picks.

Buffalo would only be interested in Zibanejad in the return package if he came with an extension to their satisfaction.
