Columbus is looking for a center, eh?

I think Drury has a chance to repeat the Marian Gaborik trade here.

Zibanejad for Roslovic, Texier, and Kevin Stenlund.

Rangers use other assets to make a trade for his replacement elsewhere. Rangers gain depth and get harder to play against.

There you go.
Would rather we either add a piece or have the Blue Jackets take away a piece so Columbus includes their 2023 unprotected 1st round pick.

I hope they hang onto Chytil but I’m thinking he’ll have to be included for any trade for a 1C type guy

Hopefully Zibanejad will bring back a Chytil-esque replacement in that scenario

I mean, let’s wait to be peeved about Trouba until he isn’t a completely necessary staple of our defensive corps and one of only three eatablished top four defensemen on the roster

It's tough for me as I did not want him before they traded for him.

Edit: I watched a lot of the Jets for two years prior to that trade, he is what he was and still is, not the worst, however is slow at skating and processing the game in real time. Yet he can be a factor, plays coming at him are usually defended well, he is going to give it his all, he has the grit factor, it's not all bad, for a 2nd pair defender.

Fair, and I’ll concur that he’s overpaid, but we really need to wait until some of the kids get established.

Reminds me of the Rozsival situation. He became expendable when McDonagh made the NHL and Girardi was ready for more responsibility

Imagine getting a job at generic Wall Street firm right out of college as a junior financial analyst and your entire department sans one analyst a year older than you and a part-timer are all either on vacation or sabbatical and you're by default in charge. Plus you're also missing key parts in IT, Infrastructure, Data, and your CEO was fired, with your manager probably gone in a week. That's what K'Andre Miller and Adam Fox are going through right now.

I scroll this boards and social media the last few days and fans are turning on Miller? Never change Rangers fans. It's a reason why I have no interest in having a family in this region, I don't want any children having these "what have you done for me lately?" "eh he's a bumb! Get rid of him" attitudes.

He's called soft, a bust, etc.

He's literally been 21 for four months, a year ahead of expectations, hasn't hit man strength yet, and is the #1B D by default.

To think he's going to stop gaining muscle, improve, etc. is ridiculous.

The Rangers defense is in shambles now and he's literally the 1B Dman with Fox as 1A by inheritance. Plus an entire top six line of forwards are out so he has no support.

We don't know what Robertson will be, but he hasn't cracked the squad, and Reunnean has potential but he hasn't shown that he can play at even strength in the NHL yet.

As long as he wants to be here and he’s reasonable about his contract expectations (think something like 2x2) I think there’s no question Brendan Smith is re-signed. His leadership has grown leaps and bounds, he’s clearly very important in the room and has stood up to answer the bell beyond what should ever have been expected of a guy like him (tough customer but not really a fighter).

He’s also pretty decent as a 3LD.

I bring him back in a heartbeat.

Nope time to move on. He's been terrible at actual hockey the last six weeks.

Appreciate what he did but he's been here since 2016. Time to change the culture and bring in some Cup winners.

Larkin is so f***in fast you almost can't see him move. We could use that.

Like the opposite of Drax.

Another tidbit from that article:

  1. There have been 685 team-seasons since the NHL began tracking faceoff data in 1997-98. The Rangers’ 44.4 success rate this year ranks 682nd on the list. That means the fourth-worst in recorded history.
This needs to be fixed asap. Some more good (bad) FO stats in that article more specific to the Centers. Very not good.

This is a generational achievement. Unreal.

The fact that these developments only occurred when his contract was up tells you everything you need to know about Brendan Smith. If the FO falls for it again, we deserve everything that comes after.

oh, and he sucks even for a 4LD.
