Exactly. I get it, but like, when you're the generational talent he's billed to be, it becomes your responsibility at some point. McDavid didn't quit on the Oilers. He somehow got even better and improved his defense exponentially. Lundqvist dragged at least one straight-up horrendous Rangers team to the playoffs in 10-11.

To me, Eichel wants easy mode. He wants to go a team that's good enough to take responsibility off of him while he cheats his way to 120 points. We're specifically trying to get away from that.

If it were somebody like Barkov who might have slightly less talent but has carried a franchise, I'd be willing to do it.

Same page.

Revisit Lindholm in Calgary. Stevie Y is going to shop Larkin this summer, it was floated by Friedman post deadline. There’s smoke there. Focus on one of those 2 guys.

Eichel is a tremendously talented player, but he scares the shit out of me.

I keep coming back to how much @bobbop revolted against the idea of him.

Larkin is so f***in fast you almost can't see him move. We could use that.

Something around Chytil & Lundkvist for Larkin makes sense to me

But even McDavid has a partner in crime in Draisaitl. Who the f*** has Eichel had? Taylor Hall for a few games, Ryan O'Reilly and Sam Reinhart? O'Reilly is a great player but didn't play with Eichel and Reinhart is very good but not elite at all. Even on defense, they've had Dahlin and the rest for the past decade have been total garbage.

As far as quitting on the team, I think he should be given some leeway there. It's not often a top pick goes as long as he has with zero team success. McDavid had tasted success, making the playoffs in 2017, Eichel never has. Sure there's some responsibility on Eichel's shoulders but as good as McDavid is even he couldn't carry Edmonton to the playoffs half of his NHL career. I think it's more than reasonable for Eichel to be frustrated, Buffalo has been an absolute trainwreck, worse than Edmonton.

I'm not saying he's perfect, or that there are zero risks and we should be willing to bend over and let Buffalo violate us. But to me people are looking for negatives where there really aren't.

Trading for Jack Eichel seems like it would reek more of Dolan and Sather than it would of Drury. It'd be like the hockey version of the Carmelo Anthony trade.

Slats is his advisor. Might come down to how long cocaine James stays interested.

Never heard that about him but Gallant was a boozer.

I think you're mixing up the two here

It's just, for me, for what he's gonna cost, I have to know you've done it. I have to see evidence that you're a franchise-altering player.

Maybe it's not his fault that he hasn't had the opportunity, but from a Rangers standpoint, that's not my problem.

I'm not hardline against it depending on the ask, but I don't see the ask being something I'm comfortable with.

Hes my target.

Only downside is you’re dealing with Yzerman.

And a feeding frenzy for a young C. Yzerman is going to pick you clean + he's planning to tank for the 2022 + 2023 drafts (good time to suck).

No.

Not for what he’s getting paid and what it will cost to get him.
I wasn't trying to say he did quit on the team and should be excused for quitting, if he did. All we know is he was frustrated and was probably looking for a trade. That doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't playing his hardest on the ice. The point was him being frustrated and wanting out is an understandable reaction after 5 years of pathetic failure by the entire Buffalo organization.

That's fair.

I am peeved about the Trouba and Kreider thing, that is two 1st round picks that could have really helped them get the young prospect centers we all would love to have.

Between Newhook, Krebs, Tomasino in 2019, or Lundell, Hollaway if they took 2020 picks...

Not saying any of them turn out awesome, or even the Rangers could have got those picks, just the Rangers would have something they see coming up when they are looking for the centers this year, it changes the dynamic.

No offense to Jones or Lundkvist, but neither are 6'5" and skates like the wind.

Miller is a physical specimen
I would wait another year. Maybe start him off in Hartford. My worry is him being the second coming of Willie Huber. Tall strong talented d-man who would not use that size and strength to take the body or move opposition away from the crease.

I mean, let’s wait to be peeved about Trouba until he isn’t a completely necessary staple of our defensive corps and one of only three eatablished top four defensemen on the roster
